I’m assuming this was some kind of romantic rejection, but there’s definitely a lot of people that feel that way. Supposedly you form your musical taste in your teens and keep it for life, though I’m a counter example as I keep navigating into new styles every few years.
I’m old, but I really only listen to new music like alternative, edm, electronic, metal when they come out. A lot of the old classic songs I’ve heard a thousand times really hold no interest.

I get embarrassed that my playlist is entirely songs from decades ago so I try to throw in a few current ones so I don’t seem totally out of touch!
