It has always been seriously bizarre to me that Stalin’s son goes to war, and when he’s captured Stalin refuses to use his position to save his son. Like that’s a terrifying amount of integrity. They use it to cast Stalin as an unfeeling monster, and never to say “Wow he wouldn’t bow to the Nazis or tell Soviet citizens that his son was worth more than their sons”.
Stalin is either an unfeeling monster that doesn’t care if his own son lives or dies or he’s profoundly corrupt and willing to use his position to unfairly benefit his family.
