The much more aggressive air flow in the very small vessel means the air is in almost constant contact with the heating element, things end up coming out much crispier in my experience. It’s also easier to shake the air fryer basket halfway through cooking to help things crisp up vs the whole oven cooling while you go in and flip items over.
It also heats up to 400° in just a few minutes so you don’t need to use massive amounts of energy and warm up your whole kitchen just to make a serving of fish fingers.

I thought airfryer was supposed to be alternative to pan, oven or a fryer, not to microwave
so far as i’ve been able to sus out, an air fryer literally is an oven.
It’s a tiny convection oven. My wife wants one. Despite us having a convection oven. This has caused arguments

It’s essentially a small convection oven on steroids. You can also get oven style airfryer with trays, rotating baskets and rotisserie spits.
rotating basket is the next one i intend to buy, the interruption in heat is noticeable in the final results
