Hexbear is one of those instances that has a bad reputation. One of which is for being anti trans and yet the data says something different, unless they all hate themselves. In my experience of their users though, they’re a decent bunch, polite and insightful. Though admittedly, I’m not in many of the main communities on Lemmy, so tend to miss most things.
I feel like most of the hexbear users I’ve run into live up to their negative reputation. Maybe the communities I see just bring out the worst users from that server for some reason.
I think it’s about the communities I interact with them in. I’m really not a fan of the mainstream communities and so inadvertently but luckily, avoid trolls for the most part.
Hexbear has a bad reputation for many reasons, but I’ve never heard anyone claim that they’re anti trans. They are known for being incredibly protective of their trans members.

I’ve seen tons of tankies say transphobic stuff, so it’s definitely an element over there. Maybe less than other tankies, but only in the way some conservatives can keep their transphobia quiet enough to watch Blair White or have her as a guest on a podcast or whatever. They don’t hate trans people there less, they’re just deceptive enough to fool people into thinking their dream ML utopia wouldn’t put queer people to death like all the others they love so much. People who aren’t transphobes don’t worship Stalin

Polite unless you’re Ukrainian, or any ideology other than ML, or really any reason they decide you’re a degenerate or bourgeoisie or whatever. They constantly brigade what few other instances they’re not banned from (and ones they are banned from with alts). Stop defending tankies, there’s a very good reason we call them red fascists
Defending? I spoke of my experience in the context of the data and gave a disclaimer as to why it’s a small sample. If you have an issue with them, take it up with them.
