When Guatemala started introducing laws that harmed their profits, the UFC and its pocket congressmen started putting pressure on the country and spreading propaganda, accusing them of being communists. When Eisenhower was elected, he used the CIA to overthrow the Guatemalan government in 1954 (as they did in Iran a year before). The UFC’s involvement is known, but to what extent beyond slandering the progressive government, is not clear.
