Title + Why you like that client?
I am using eternity from some hours and my fav is liftoff.
Considering this is the FOSS sub maybe the people suggesting Boost and Sync might want to suggest something else… It’s like people suggesting dairy cheddar for someone asking for a good lactose free cheese 🥲
But yeah, Jerboa is a popular client and one of the OGs as far as I know.
I personally enjoy Jerboa which is AGPL-3 and has a very sleek interface while being cross platform. Also felt a lot more complete than Jerboa did back when I tried it in July but im sure both are more similar nowadays
I use Connect and I’ve liked it. being able to block communities I don’t want in my feed is easy and I get the impression that other apps don’t have this feature. I can also block posts by keywords which is also nice not having to see post after post about Elon or furries
Think most apps have the blocking features, actually.
Can’t speak for most apps but communities can be blocked on Eternity and Thunder. I just wish there was a way to block an entire instance as user
Connect can block instances and users
I used infinity for reddit, so naturally I switched to eternity.
Boost and Voyager
+1 for Voyager
There was a poll a week ago and it reached over 6000 votes. That won’t answer Why, but you get a general idea which clients people use.
That was before boost was released. I bet it’ll look different now.
Unless people value their data and won’t use boost
They’re using sync. I think that has the same issues
How liftoff is so far down on that list baffles me
I used Liftoff for quite a while. It just stopped working one day about 3-ish weeks ago. Couldn’t ever get it to work again. I might be an outlier, but if others had the same experience it may explain it.
That’s a shame, well I guess I’ll keep using it till it stops working. Then I would probably be switching back to Eternity as I used to use Infinity
Same here my fav client
Thanks btw ur client
I’m using Eternity, because I used Infinity for Reddit before and it’s just the most familiar client for me.
It needs to be updated to include Boost… maybe in a couple of weeks…

You’re in the wrong community. Boost is not open source. Fwiw I also like Boost.
The amout of proprietary junk in this thread is too damn high.
Eternity, hands down the best,
open source = no ads or tracking
very cutomisable, smooth navigation, no major bugs. + supports older phones
Does it mark read on scroll? I checked it out early but it seemed to lack that feature.
I personally don’t use the feature, but I just tested it and it seems to work. How well, I don’t know; it would require more extensive usage.
In case you end up trying Eternity again, the setting is under preferences -> post history.
Thank you, I’ll give it another download and spin.
yes it does
For me it’s very buggy, although I still like it the most.
Jerboa, because it just works and doesn’t overcomplicate things.
You can’t change the default comment sort though.
I’m using combustible for now, it kinda suits my needs, simple and smooth. You can get it on izzyondroid repo or gh.
Hi there! Looks like you linked to a Lemmy community using a URL instead of its name, which doesn’t work well for people on different instances. Try fixing it like this: !combustible@lemmy.world
Jerboa, it’s kind of ugly but, yk, never change a running system. Just works.
last time people thought that we tried disenfranchising non white men
what
how did this go from “use jerboa it’s pretty good” to something about racism
Thunder, Great Material You UI
Best UI out of all the clients I’ve tested! Snappy and the haptics make it feel really great.
Does it still have that bug where it disconnects you when it doesn’t find the network?
I think its fixed because I haven’t encountered it in a long time. I recommend pulling Thunder right from GitHub using Obtainium instead of using fdroid. More frequent updates.
Boost - Mainly because is what I used on reddit

Apparently that’s boilerplate supplied by Google for anything that uses their ad network, which boost does. That disclosure is mandatory for any country that falls under the GDPR umbrella. There’s a post from the developer explaining this over in the boost sub - Boost doesn’t collect this data, the admob network does. If you pay to remove ads admob isn’t even loaded.
I used Jerboa, but found it clunky. Voyager provides a much nicer experience. I come from having used redreader, so I guess voyager provided a similar experience.
Liftoff
I like Connect, but Jeroba and Liftoff are pretty decent too. Thunder is pretty good too.
