In case anyone is wondering, it’s rqd2.

The definition of paraphilia is “a condition characterized by abnormal sexual desires, typically involving extreme or dangerous activities.”, which can inclde pedophilia.

It has recieved 4 censures from fediseer due to the content contained on that instance

Not a good look for Lemmy to be promoting any instance like that.

You can see for yourself here

Update: A pull request was sent to remove the sus instance. It should no longer show up soon

I wish people would inform themselves before they jump to conclusions. If you don’t want to look at the instance that’s fine and understandable (and probably for the best). But don’t make assumptions and try to immediately spread discord without even trying to look at what you are talking about first. Otherwise it is you who is fanning the flames of hatred.

They share links to pedophilic material, they have a “smash or pass” thread for lolis, openly discuss how sex with children “isn’t always harmful”, consider themselves “transage” and therefore as good partners for minors etc. etc.

Yeah I’m deleting this app now. I love a nice alternative to reddit, but considering how much unblurred porn bleeds through to my timeline with no provocation, I really don’t want to run the risk of something truely heinous like whatever is associated with this making it to my Frontpage.

You have an account on an instance with a very active admin team. We were even the first one to report this specific instance to the rest of the admins. We didn’t do it in public to not give them any kind of exposure.

As others in this thread have suggested, you can disable NSFW communities completely by disabling the NSFW flag in your user settings.

It’s honestly depressing at how Lemmy has turned over the last few months since I joined. I would now never mention I use the site or recommend it to others. There’s just too many fucking landmines for new users to step over to have a good experience here.

I’m sticking with it for the time being, but I don’t see myself ever using it again if it gets worse.

That’s how it is. Even on the largest porn instance (lemmynsfw.com), you need to check the box explicitly on the sign up page. (And on the second biggest I know of (pornlemmy.com) there’s a full page consent splash screen before even you can even reach the sign up page.

The thread starter is complaining about posts which should be marked as NSFW, but are not. I personally haven’t noticed any of that, but I mostly stick to “subscribed” views instead of “All”

That’s how Lemmy works already. When you register, the registration page gives the option to enable NSFW - i.e. it is off by default. (At least on lemmy.world and on dbzer0, I haven’t checked other instances but I believe they work the same, except the porn instances.)

If it helps, I use kbin.social (and its PWA for mobile browsing) and haven’t seen any porn at all in my feed. I assume it’s filtered out by default, but I haven’t checked. I don’t get any of the extreme political stuff in my feed either.

Yep, there was some in the early days but nowadays it seems to be gone to the point I think it’s bugged and hiding all NSFW content regardless of your profile setting.

I occasionally see something tagged as “18+”, although it’s never been porn. I have wondered if it’s bugged, too, but I don’t really mind either way - there are other websites that are far, far better for porn if that’s what I’m looking for. Maybe there’s some great non-porn, non-gore content that I’ve been missing out on, but I think the chances are fairly slim.

      1. Go to “Communities”

      2. Select “All”

      3. Subscribe to any & all communities that interest you

      4. Click on your username and select “Settings”

      5. Scroll down to “Type” and select “Subscribed”

Congratulations, your front page now only consists of content you explicitly asked for.

You don’t see porn on the front page of lemmy either, if you used the “subscribed” view, instead of treating “ALL” as if it doesn’t contain everything.

I apologize, I thought I did, I read the rules, and I read on the frontpage, and it seemed pretty harmless.

And there were no posts here that showed anything actually wrong, but mostly what seemed like knee jerk reactions to the accusation.

Had I dug one step deeper, I would have found it. But my diligence wasn’t diligent enough, and I wrongfully concluded it was an anti LGBT issue.

Turns out I was mistaken, and yes I was a bit slow to figure that out.

Personally I think we should have a MAP flag…

It should be grey, black and orange.

Grey and black represents the bars, orange represents the jumpsuit.

Pedophilia is a crime, not a sexuality, and the day this becomes a controversial statement is the day humanity is officially unworthy of its continued existence as a species.

Great strawman but no, this is not free speech, this is illegal content and laws exist to prosecute those who disseminate it. Free speech allows you to offend others … it doesn’t give you a pass to break the law.

As I said I find the whole trying to pass off pedophilia as something normal horrible. That doesn’t mean that them having their own instances and communities isn’t part of free speech.

Real free speech isn’t censored by law.

Again I’m just making an observation here it doesn’t mean I’m okay with this happening but this is what we signed up for, liberty has a cost.

As far as I’m concerned those people should be put on a police watch list and have all their post be read by their local authorities lol

The only about the Devil’s Advocate I’m willing to give for someone who is attracted to children, is that I think they should be provided services to designed to prevent them from attacking people, and that they should be free to seek therapy to minimize their chances of attacking others without scrutiny.

But that’s the end of my symapthy anyone willing to force themselves upon a minor literally does not deserve to live.

That instance list is built completely automatically by a crawler, no one approves instances before they are listed. In this case it was removed as soon as we became aware of it. Next time please make a pull request like that one, its much more effective than complaining.

How long has it been there? Months?

The lemmy.ml devs were ok with Nazi instances being on join-lemmy “because people can just choose to join a different instance if they want” (or words to that effect) so it’ll be interesting to see how far they take that line of reasoning.

They’re as leftist as the “communist” China. Or as “socialist” as the Nazis were. Just because someone calls themselves “communist” or “socialist”, doesn’t mean it’s true. And if you support China, Nazis, Soviet Union or its successor Russia, you’re not a communist or socialist.
