Man, I was all on board with this idea. Federated instances made so much sense to me. But it’s tankies all the way down, and it’s just not worth my time anymore. Hell, if the largest instance bans you seconds after you call out a tankie mod, where can you escape? Great idea, terrible execution. Everyone wants lemmy to grow, well, until the nazis and tankies are gone, that shit just ain’t gonna happen.

Y’all have fun.

Except the nazis/tankies.

Y’all go play in traffic.

Same here, I have 3 instances blocked and don’t really see tankie crap. Just tons of spam.

I’ve seen very little. Theyre mostly congregated on hexbear and keep to themselves unless summoned.

i browse nothing but all. I’ve seen maybe a handful of posts that maybe featured a single tankie in the comments.

granted, I’m on kbin. maybe that’s making the difference

I’m on kbin too. I haven’t seen any of the things that I see a lot of posts complaining about. (Beehaw, hexbear)

I’m also pretty far left. I’m not a tankie though. I’m curious how much of the complaining is just right wingers bitching about reasonable opinions

I think that’s what a lot of this is. I’m at the point where I’m more annoyed about the people complaining about tankies that I ever was about tankies.

I’m going to start blocking any complaints about tankies.

Just ban them yourself, and you will end up with tankie free community.

Man, I did not realize how much I missed this kind of dumb high school drama type of social media post until I saw this one.

Oh no Brian, please don’t go… the Fediverse needs you! 😂

Thanks for the soap opera fix!

No matter what, “tankie” will always sound so goddamn stupid. I’ll never get over learning that was even a thing until getting on this platform.

If you really want to entertain us take a selfie and post it.

For real. Like, I get the concept of commune living, but the larger the commune, the more of a threat human nature becomes.

Sounds like you want to either create an account on Lemmy.world where all the tankie and fash instances are already blocked or wait a few weeks/months for the user specific domain blocking update to go through.

Guess which instance banned me, leading to my point. They are still tankie-sympathetic, as noted by the fact the JUST NOW defederated from lemmygrad. They hide it well, but they still have that lean.

Yeah I really don’t agree with that. I want to be on an instance that only defederates as a last resort. As stated in the defederation post, they only just now fully defederated as the volume of lemmygrad’s rule violating exceeded their ability to moderate.

Ah, so you want a free speech instance. So if that is what lemmy.world is supposed to be, why do they ban folks that disagree with them? Why do they delete comments? What you are describing and what lemmy.world is are not matching up, my friend.

They don’t purport to be a free speech instance. Bans I’ve seen are for rule breaking, but I’ll admit I have found some of their interpretations of spamming or trolling to be heavy handed. I’ve said as much in meta threads and haven’t been banned so I’ve stuck around. There’s so many instances out there now I’m sure you can find something that aligns with your personal views.

They want a safe and welcoming community that abhors violence. Free speech isn’t part of the offer. You have to be nice and smile whether you like it or not.

I ain’t asking anyone to agree with me. They are the ones who banned someone for disagreeing with them.

that’s obviously your call, but if what you were expecting here is something you desire, where else are you going to get that?

(im asking this question genuinely, I’d like to know if there are other alternatives out there.)

No worries! I think I need to focus on actual social interaction, rather than the facade social media portrays. I like talking to people and listening to their stories, ideas, and ideals. I have a habit of stress-testing those ideals, but generally out of a desire to strengthen them by acknowledging the pitfalls they contain. I’m a social chameleon that is as fascinated my human nature as I am annoyed by it. Thing is, online interaction strips so much nuance from conversation that it takes so much extra effort to say something. It’s like talking to a brick wall sometimes.

What if I go nowhere? What if I just abandon this social media dopamine dispenser altogether? Then I won’t have to listen to asshats from half way around the world try to explain why genocide is okay sometimes.

You know there is other instances that is more focused on other stuff than what you’re referring to right?

Lemmy.world for instance just defederated from Leningrad.
