Captain America: Brave New World is coming out in 2024 (next year), and the MCU is introducing the character, Sabra. In case you didn’t click the link, Sabra is an Israeli superhero that basically wears the Israel flag as her costume.

This conflict could delay the movie since marvel likes calling their Captain America movies “political thrillers”. I am so mad why would Hamas do this. Now, Marvel has to restructure their film so that it’s not outdated. Sadly, the budget is going to go through the roof now since they have to add like an hour-and-a-half of CGI of Captain Israel going 9/11 on buildings and hospitals in Gaza.

I just want the fighting to end so we can go back to how things were before, capekino paradise.

Forgot to add this in, but for like a year the title was actually “Captain America: New World Order”

Funniest shit, it was speculated they changed the title because of…antisemitic connotations agony

I understand how Brave New World will be perceived as functionally less anti-Semitic, but do either of these titles (New World Order) even make sense as references to the MCU? I might have only watched 1 or 2 old MCU movie in the last 5 years.

I only remember 2 things, first is that grimdark Grimace snaps his fingers and everybody becomes sand, also the one where they (hopefully unintentionally) rehabilitated nazis by saying “no actually the bad stuff was hydra and some guy who rips his face off for no reason”.

I don’t think they ever suggest in the movies that Hydra were the driving force behind the Nazi’s atrocities.

If anything, the Hydra plot in later films outright states that the US government had been run not just by fascists, but by actual Nazis since at least the end of WWII.

“Sabra and Shatila are the names of two Palestinian camps in Lebanon where, from Sept. 16 to Sept. 18 in 1982, a Lebanese Christian militia massacred hundreds of residents. Israeli troops had allowed the militia to enter the camps, and Israeli commanders issued no orders to stop the carnage.”

The Sabra and Shatila massacre refers to the 1982 killings of between 460 and 3,500 civilians—mostly Palestinians and Lebanese Shias—in the city of Beirut during the Lebanese Civil War.

Sabra is a character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by writer Bill Mantlo and artist Sal Buscema, the character first appeared in Incredible Hulk #250 (August 1980).

in the comics, she is a member of the Mossad, and many of the Arab characters she interacts with are portrayed as misogynistic, antisemitic and violent

Shame they wouldn’t introduce her twin Shatila, in the comic they would do the fusion dance and turn into Ian Smith for some reason

“Until 2010, the Strauss Group (bought Sabra in 2005) stated on their English-language website that the company donated food packages to the Golani Brigade of the Israel Defense Forces.”

If you have a blender it’s super easy to make your own from canned chickpeas. Just add a bit of salt, cumin, tahini, and lemon juice, and then any other herbs, spices, or foodstuffs you fancy. I’m a fan of allspice, chilli flakes, and a splash of worcestershire sauce.

Edit: also if you can find Kala chana (black chickpeas) I personally think they make much tastier hummus than regular chickpeas. Might have to look in world foods type places to find them though.

Also I just want to say all this marvel shit is so low effort in terms of writing. How hard is it to come up with original stories and characters without scraping the sides of the comic book churn?

God this movie might be a new level of lib nerd redditor cringe, which I didn’t even think was possible at this late stage of the MCU. Imagine a scene with Sabra spouting epic Whedonisms while beating the shit out of Durka Durka Jihad caricatures.
