Sonic the Hedgehog (1991)
I consider these my top 3 not because they’re the best, but what they meant to me when they released. Each game was so important to me when they came out. Mario 3 and Sonic were so influential because of the gameplay and presentation. Chrono Trigger was my first JRPG and was the first game soundtrack I became obsessed with.
There are a lot more but others include Halo 2, Unreal Tournament, Team Fortress 2, StarCraft, Age of Empires II, SimCity 2000, Link’s Awakening, Wind Waker, Super Mario World, Super Metroid, and Metroid Prime.

Quake 3 Arena (or 2, or DooM for nostalgia points)
Honourable mentions: Disco Elysium, Nethack, Portal.
I think that doom is the best game ever made.
What the modding community has done with that game is beyond it’s original scope.
If you need proof for this look into myhouse.wad and the Sunder levels.
KOTOR 2, Kingdom Hearts BBS, Halo 3 (mostly the memories of multiplayer though)

Difficult choice but I think I have to go with Baldur’s Gate 3, Overwatch 1 from 2016 to 2020 or so and Civilizations 2.

Horizon Zero Dawn+1 for Baldur’s Gate 3. I don’t think i have at any point in my life been as grossly invested in a games story for 110 hours straight as I have with Baldur’s Gate 3. Truly a marvel of a game.
Outer Wilds. Baldur’s Gate 2. Hollow Knight.
Half life, Portal, Ace Attorney Trilogy.

Might and Magic: World of xeen (clouds of xeen + darkside of xeen). I still replay it today on dosbox. An amazing mix of fun, things coming toghether and hard battles, an extensive and complex objects system, classes, and lots of great ideas. All in a 90’a game.
