Hey folks, just checking in to see what everyone is playing this week! Did you find a hidden gem or are you jamming on a classic? Let us know what you’re playing and what you think of it.
Spiderman 2. Trying not to hurry through it but it’s tough
Tony Hawk 1+2. Just found out the multiplayer servers are gone, which is a bummer, but it’s still fun.
Really? That’s disappointing considering it came out recently. What are you playing it on?
Switch. Apparently online play never worked for most people, only those with 5G-based home Internet (like me) were able to use it anyway.
That’s rough. Honestly online play would be a selling point for me. I’ve played enough of THPS that a reskin and new soundtrack isn’t super enticing to me
Cyberpunk 2077. Damn good game.
Another backlog game I would like to get to soon. Did you play it on release at all?
I played it all the way through on launch on PC. It had bugs, and it was missing some glaring things, like proper cop AI. However overall I had no game breaking bugs. But also, I didn’t really follow the hype until the game was already coming out, so i didn’t have many expectations going in. I highly recommend it. Performance has improved, features have been added and refined, and it’s got a very rich and detailed world to play with. I haven’t played the DLC yet, but I’m hearing that’s pretty good as well.
Gotcha, that’s about what I’ve heard from others too. I’m glad they continued to work on it and make it the game that they originally envisioned. I’m looking forward to playing it eventually haha
Just finished playing this for the first time. Loved it wished there were more in world missions to do as I enjoyed the city.
I’m doing another playthrough on hardest difficulty while only leveling intelligence perks. So, all I do is use smart guns and quick hacks. It’s a very different way to play.
SMT Nocturne, it looks as if I’m about to battle with the four horsemen of the apocalypse.
Old game I know, but old is great 👍
Hidden gem, The Witcher 3. Taking my sweet time to do everything I want, so I’m 120h in and I don’t feel like I’m too far into the main questline. That’s good, I’d like it to last as long as possible lol
I don’t think it’s very hidden^^ Great game though, I’ve replayed it a few times to try out different things
hidden
A little tongue-in-cheek :P
I’ve been doing everything (except for Gwent) so I don’t know if I can fit a second playthrough, there are very few things I could do differently, for example focusing a bit more on Gwent, using non-witcher gear and upping the difficulty. I could also try it unmodded, but after playing with W3EE it’s unlikely that the original combat system would satisfy me. Well, it is too early to decide anyway, I estimate I should have more than 100h left, give or take haha
Hmmm, I never tried mods. Combat is the one major weakpoint of the game, maybe I’ll try W3EE one day
Modded combat adds so many layers to it and witcher contracts finally feel like proper boss fights, you need to prepare for each of them in a different way because without the right potions and oils it’s unlikely you can succeed (unless, I don’t know, you’ve beaten all Souls games with ease). The major downside of it is when you encounter large groups of enemies, because you don’t have the time to recover. Popping a potion or an oil after your first death definitely helps, though, but it breaks immersion a little bit haha
Anyway, highly suggested

Not to dissuade you from exploring Skyrim some more, but if you’ve never tried Enderal it’s completely amazing. Fan-made game using Skyrim engine and assets, free, and intense. Just, uh, don’t play the intro around those who scare easily.

But that’s me 😭
Maybe skip the whole game, then, it gets dark.
Such a classic! If my backlog wasn’t so large I would have returned to it by now
Zelda: Oracle of Ages!
(on a Miyoo Mini Plus, and it’s a lovely experience!)
I started a new Starsector Run with new Mods. Still in the Stage where my colonies are running a defecit and i have to make credits exploring and Bounty hunting
How is the learning curve on the game? I’ve been seeing some streamers play it over the past few months and it looks interesting.
Learning curve for the base game is fine in my opinion. I finished one vanilla campaign playthrough and jumped into Mods afterwards. I would recommend starting with just some utility mods and one you got the hang of it add complexity via mods like nexerelin.
Chances are high that I’ll probably play the same way as you when I dive in. I usually don’t like to grab utility mods until I have a good sense of how the core systems work without them.
I’ve been wanting to try the game for a while but I’m always hesitant about any EA title. It seems like they’ve got most of the game put in place though as far as I can tell so it might just be time to take the plunge!
I’m still playing Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen. I’m enjoying the game more now. I thought I had finished chapter 2 but it turns out there was a lot more to do! I find the characters more interesting to play now that they’re higher levels and have more spells and gear. The story is developing more too and it’s looking good.
I’ve been playing Valheim with a buddy as well and it’s been a blast. Combat and exploring the open world are great fun. I could easily let myself get lost in this game until dawn if I wanted.
Which version of DQIV are you playing?
I’m playing it on Nintendo DS!
A great choice! The DQ DS remakes were one of the main reasons I got a flash cartridge. I’ve yet to go through DQVI
Oh there’s more DQ remakes? I’ll have to check them out!
Yep! They remade IV, V, and VI for the DS. VII and VIII on the 3DS as well if those interest you.
Now if we can get even just a bit more news about that gorgeous III remake…
I ‘finished’ Symphony of the Night the other day. By which I mean I got the bad ending, rather than doing some extra stuff to unlock the inverted castle. Should I go back and do that? Maybe at some point.
I’m very close to finishing Tears of the Kingdom, and I’ve also started a new playthough of New Vegas on my Steam Deck. Plenty to keep me busy!
Getting the bad ending is, at most, half of the content of that game. So yes! You should finish it
This is probably an irrational annoyance, but I don’t like how finding the inverted castle is near impossible without a guide. I like logical puzzles! So that put me off slightly. I will go back and play through it eventually though.
the very opening of the mirror castle is pretty cool so you should do it
SotN is one of the best games of all time. The GBA Castlevanias are good as well. Thinking of Castlevania always reminds me of that multiplayer co-op CV game on XBL that I wish was still around… Harmony of Despair.
Oh man, I just found a Unity port of Harmony of Despair with an active community playing it!
Resident Evil 4! (the original, not the remake)
Man, what a great game this is so far. It feels oddly nostalgic even though I’ve never played it before. It’s peak design from 2005.
Playing Canis Canem Edit for the first time. To be honest, I had very high expectations and they didn’t really get fulfilled.
Oof, that’s rough. Is that the one known as Bully elsewhere? What hasn’t been to your liking?
Yup, that name is for PAL releases only.
I thought it would have been a much more in dept experience, instead I find character interactions very simplistics. I expected for interaction to have actually a bigger impact, when its honestly pretty meaningless especially with my character only knowing a few sentences outside of cutscenes.
Missions or tasks honestly feel more like chores thogheter with the lessons, that I feel like leave you with little time for missions. I completed chemistry and english, and feel like I can finally breath somewhat before completing art and sports. I hate how running from dorm to class you still end up having to dodge the principals because apparently you are late and are wanted for “unjustified absence”.
I honestly also don’t really like my character too. It is prothraied for his real dislike of being pushed around, yet it almost feels like he kneels to the feet of Gary Smith like its really nothing for how trusting he acts. But I am still at the start, and with how Gary acts I feel like this dude is 99.9% going to betray me.
Struggling at the moment to find something to get into.
Played around 4 hours of Days Gone and it didn’t really grab my attention.
Played THPS 1+2, got to area 51 on the first game within around an hour and just found it boring these days, I got ruined by Skate and it’s far superior control scheme.
Started on Forza Horizon 5, I really enjoyed playing 4 during covid and I am craving this kind of arcade racing but I am just struggling to get into this one. I think it is a combination of the map being boring as fuck and so by extension so are the races and there being so much going on on the map yet seemingly nothing to really do. Also being presented DLC on the map as if it is a race I can go and do really rubbed me up the wrong way a bit.
I have Disgaea 6 to try as well as Wasteland 3 and Disco Elysium but really not feeling an RPG right now. I’d like to try NFS Unbounded but refuse to download a shitty launcher to do so so now I’m lost xD
I agree so much on Forza 5, it‘s my first Forza and driving through the wasteland that is the part of Mexico they decided to largely use is… boring. Which is a shame cause the graphics, car selection, and driving is top tier. The Crew piqued my interest cause it‘s on Hawaii which sounds immediately more interesting lol, but I think it‘s overall a qualitatively worse game from the looks of it.
Remnant 2 is still going strong here. My Dark Souls power fantasy - with guns n’ shit! Love it!
Finished Batman: Arkham Asylum yesterday. Also started Witcher 3 a while ago and have yet to finish that.
Two Bonafide classics!
