Kinda cringe. I love “dude” and say it a lot because of brainworms, but I am pretty careful with referring to people by it. It has both a potentially unpleasant sound AND is gendered.
yeah, there’s one transfem friend i have who calls me dude and i call her dude and that’s just like a thing we do, but if someone else does it it really raises my hackles even if i don’t always tell them
