Wealth inequality in the United States is out of control. Here we visualize the issue in a unique way.

Even if you already know that website, it’s worth a click. It seems to me they have updated the story as well.

Seriously, without any conspiracy bullshit - why do governments allow “super rich” to exist? Who benefits? Cui bono?

Because the super rich buy the politicians who write the laws.

followthemoney.org allows those living in the US to track who is funding their legislators, committees, and individual pieces of legislation. Just in case you want to verify this claim for yourself.

It works now! Their server must have been down when I checked earlier. Thank you.

Last time this was posted is how I learned that Jeff bezos, in a single day, earned enough to pay for all the cancer treatments in America for an entire year.

On an unrelated note… A few gallons of gas really isn’t that expensive.

Did they really have to use median income as a reference point? Numbers for median wealth exist. In the US that would be about 108k per household, so it wouldn’t look disignificantly different from the 68k (median income) they used, but it would avoid comparing apples and oranges.
