As the article states, the inclusion of the nudes in the newsletter allows a very clear path for criminal charges in D.C. and Georgia under their respective revenge porn legislation. She should receive charges for both.

In any sane world, a member of congress would be immediately expelled for presenting literal nudes, without permission and in bad faith, of a sitting POTUS’ family member, who is not, nor has ever been a member of the administration or government employee.

Congratulations to Vladimir Putin and the CCP, as your work to dismantle the U.S. through propaganda and mainstreaming batshit tinfoil-hat insanity through promoting these ridiculous, unserious elected officials like Greene, Paul, Jordan, Comer, Gaetz, Santos, et al, has been incredibly effective.

It was a joke because that’s the only definition I could find for “Tankish,” but I didn’t think that was what you actually meant. Never heard of it at all nor could I find any reference to it describing friendliness with the 2nd world. Any idea of the etymology and/or where you picked up the term?

This is just speculation because it hasn’t been explained definitively to me, but my assumption is that it refers to the Tiananmen square video where it was one dude vs a column of tanks and tankies are people supporting the column of tanks side of that conflict.

And from there it evolved to mean anyone supporting the Chinese or Russian authoritarian regimes. It might apply more broadly to anyone supporting a regime that uses brutal dissent breaking tactics, though in the west it might apply to situations specifically involving that brutality (France, Britain, and USA have all recently used some brutal tactics, though none of them have deployed tanks to settle a protest/riot that I’m aware of).

And just to repeat, that’s my current best guess as to the specific meaning of the term, I could be entirely wrong.

One of the candidates wants to imitate the US when it comes to the 2A, so I think if it comes to that, I’ll arm myself.

Careful, you’re falling for American propaganda yourself.

The safest thing you can do by far is to leave, but obviously that’s not an option for everybody.

If you do arm yourself and you take that gun with you everywhere you go, you’re more likely to just give a far-right scumbag an excuse to kill you than you are to defend yourself.

Extremely permissive gun laws benefit assholes, criminals and extremists far more than they benefit genuinely good people.

So have all the armed minorities in America fixed the problem?

Has racism been solved or does the state still execute people in the street and claim “He might have had a gun”?

Are authoritarians scared to enter politics because of all the overweight, heavily armed people waddling around sharing fantasies about killing for “freedom”?

Are domestic terrorists hunting gay people gunned down in a hail of Good Guy Bullets before they can threaten, trumatise, maim and kill anybody?

Or do cashiers and children and beaten wives just get shot in the face because their lives weren’t deem as important as profiting off people who can’t secure their guns or control their emorions.

Morality has nothing to do with it, it simply doesn’t work.

A talking point pushed by right-wing, pro-gun reactionaries who just want to manipulate people into feeling racist.

The open carry laws they used while policing the police stated that it was legal to carry a loaded rifle or shotgun as long as it was publicly displayed and not pointed at anyone.

The pro-gun community pushes gun laws that are far more permissive and far more likely to result in an overweight Fox News viewer losing control of his emotions and executing a cashier.

Especially if that cashier is black.

Marjorie Taylor Green, sometimes called MTG, is a representation and a result of the dumbing down of united state politics. She’s a member of the far right party in this country and pushes conspiracies, racism, bigotry and hatred. She’s possibly the least intelligent person to ever hold federal office in this country.

Hunter Biden is the son of the current US president. He holds no office and has nothing to do with politics, but because he’s the president’s son, the far right politicians spend a large amount of time trying to find anything they can to make him look bad. He’s had problems with drugs and the law in the past so there’s a decent amount there for them to attack.

In any case, there’s multiple problems here. The laptop was not last in Biden’s possession. It’s clear the repair shop opened and accessed data on the drive. Given that… it’s not useful as evidence of anything, even if there was a complete manifesto detailing plans for world domination. (there’s not. there’s one email and dick pics)

It’s funny, I actually was awarded on Reddit for posting some stuff about the Hunter Biden laptop that won me an argentinium award. I believe it had to do with the fact that an invoice was generated many months after Hunter Biden dropped off the laptop. I still wonder if the laptop was stolen, or how the hell it ended up in the possession of the repair shop and they never returned it to him.

I used to work in computer repair, and that kind of behavior would be illegal and highly unethical. Unless the repair shop had found evidence of something like CP or other illegal activity (although drug use here would count in that regard), they would try to maintain the integrity of the client’s data and try their best to return their hardware back to the owner.

A whole situation is really odd.

But 1) it was for water damage, why are they going through his emails? It’s unlikely that would even be relevant.

                  1. turning it over to the cops is reasonable- fbi might be a bit of a stretch, but sure. Turning over gulianni? That is bad faith. He’s not a criminal lawyer, wasn’t representing hunter, isn’t a law enforcement officer of any stripe. That’s receipt of stolen goods there.

                  2. there’s absolutely no reason to believe those emails or any other material are legitimate. Or, you know, even the same laptop. (It probably is. It’s more convincing that way, slipping the few ‘criminal’ bits on and leaving it to be found.)

If they do than there is nothing that can shield you from the crimes you commit, even being president. Too many Republicans there and they’ll vote R regardless of how shitty DeSantis makes Florida. There’s already a ton of crap with Disney and immigrant workers, which is hurting business, but they’ll still vote for him (or any R) because of the R.

She should become a sex offender for this. Any normal person would get sentenced to prison if they did this, yet somehow i don’t think she’ll get in any real trouble for this.

What the fuck can we do about this? I’m so sick of seeing powerful people get away with all types of crimes every single day while there are regular people serving 30 year sentences for getting caught with some weed.

We are past the point where we should be revolting. I don’t think we should resort to violence, but we should put our collective foot down.

We have all the power. This country’s economy would grind to a screeching halt if we stopped showing up for work. We need to make some demands and stop contributing until they are met. Accountability for the powerful should be among those demands. I also say we demand the ability to pay for housing, goof, and health care by working a full time job. If we don’t have those bare minimums, then what are we even doing?

This would really be more like non-consensual sexual nudity… Potentially sent to minors who might unexpectedly be exposed to it (presumably) without their or their parents’ or guardians’ consent.

Accidental or not, my understanding is that the reason she was sharing the photos to begin with was because she believed there was something “scandalous”, embarrassing, and specifically sexual going on in the photos.

Despite your edit, from what I can tell of being born and raised in the USA, there isn’t really a concept of non-sexual nudity, outside of locker rooms/campsite bathouses, some restrooms, and of course, nudist communities/beaches.

Even just taking a leak somewhere that is somewhat secluded if there are no restrooms can land someone a public urination and maybe an indecent exposure charge.

So Republican men are obsessed with penises, and apparently Republican women are as well.

Democrats should be turning the GOP into a laughing stock with this situation. Making some innuendo jokes about “like father like son” to imply that Joe is hung like a horse, or make some jokes implying MTG isn’t getting any at home, so she’s lusting after some Democratic sausage. Basically make it very humiliating for Republicans to continue to push this issue.

Unfortunately, as usual, I just don’t see them doing it. There might some jokes being made online, but Democrats as a party don’t seem to really be attacking the GOP on this with dirty, underhanded attacks.

Turning your opponent into a joke is one of the best methods of attack, especially in cases where the threat is very serious. War propaganda the world over characterizes a nation’s enemy as some bumbling idiot. Hogan’s Heroes, the TV show, did a great job at portraying the very serious issue of Nazis and made them look like a joke. Democrats are so bad at marketing and going after their opponents though that they’ll never do anything.

It’s crazy to me that anyone can be ok with someone sharing nudes of someone who did not consent. They’re both adults at this point but it’s literally the president’s son, too. I’m not big on appeals to authority but maybe a modicum of respect for a politicians family insofar as not sharing naked photos of them?

And the response so far is that she can get away with it. So it continues to be normalized.

The people who dismiss her as “just a dumbass” - whether she’s doing this because she’s literally insane or because she’s been told to - recognize the lasting damage this type of behavior is inflicting.

What’s crazier is that the same people who scream “the liberals are exposing our kids to sexually explicit content” because a book has two gay characters hold hands are perfectly fine with the nude photos being sent to everyone. If a gay kiss lasting two lines is enough to cause screams of rage, why aren’t actual nude photos being emailed to everyone resulting in screams?

Of course, the answer is that they don’t care as long as the nude photos “own the libs.” (So Hunter nudes are okay, but Ivanka nudes would be outrageous.) If showing kids an explicit video of two guys having sex would somehow “own the libs,” then the right would suddenly be all for kids seeing that sexually explicit content.

For her first election, yes. She is a house representative though and her term is 2 years. So that would mean in the year of 2022, she was reelected and to my memory Marcus Flowers didn’t drop out. Enlighten me if I am wrong but she won by a hefty lead in 22, 66% to 34%. Like I can accept people weren’t sure about her on the first election in the same way I can sort of accept Trump voters the first time (I still wouldn’t have voted for that idiot but I can see why people would have) after her term though, its really hard to accept that 66% of people in her county said “This is all good”. There were primaries for her as well and she got 69% of the Republican vote. So yes her constituents want this garbage.

They may need help but the first step to improvement is admitting there is problem by the their constituents. Republicans are choosing this culture war nonsense and the constituents are eating it up. There is no simple answer to showing them the proverbial light and us trying to force a solution will only make them retreat further into these radicalized figures.

I do agree that republicans are going culture war to prevent thing like a class war but blaming the base, at this point, is like blaming a person that drives a car for climate change and not people like DuPont or Delta…

Stack on that GA being a VERY gerrymandered state and it’s a no lose for her. She’s not from that district and if fact started in another district before they saw how ripe Ranger and Rome GA were for fear tactics and gop shenanigans. My parents live in Ranger and I fucking HATE it there and it’s very possible that the fetal-alcohol fucks nuts that populate that place would elect her any how but don’t discount the tactics used and how unqualified she is.

What happened in her first election is abhorrent but are we going to discount she had a 2nd election she also won very handily it was 66% to 34%?

Stack on that GA being a VERY gerrymandered state and it’s a no lose for her.

I disagree with this. I’m not disputing GA is a gerrymandered state but she still had to compete in a primary election in 22. She got 69% of the vote out of all other Republicans trying for the 14th district of Georgia. There were 5 other options for a Republican house rep in district 14. They actively chose MTG and this could show us the disengagement of voters lead to these very polarizing figures taking hold and the important of participating at all steps of the election process instead of only focusing on the one big day. Life is stressful and likely full of other important things but we have to keep in mind everything we interact with is political. Its an exhausting mindset but everything we touch, do, eat, see, etc is influenced by politics, many people might not think it that way but it is. There is a reason why the topic of coal power if very contentious. We aren’t using coal for the sake of being evil, we are using it because its a fucking mess. There are clearly the corporate angles but we also have to think at the constituent levels. Coal mining jobs are super high paying jobs with very minimal education requirements, something you can do right out of high school maybe even without any schooling, so those jobs lead to economic movement in those regions and if a mine closes it could possibly kill a whole town’s economic backing. So that is why you have the whole “putting people back into the mines” talk on the republican end and also why Democrat Senator Manchin is very conservative even for a democrat because that is what his voters want even though he does hold up many things when dems had some form of majority rule in senate. I’m not here saying keep coal mining but this is more a point of seeing why people would vote for someone like Manchin. In my view coal is dying a slow painful death and the deregulation people are following is mostly keeping that industry on life support at best since even from a economic point of view coal is losing out to other forms of power generation like natural gas but I can easily say this since my livelihood isn’t massively affected by the coal industry and the runoff effects it may have in my area

I don’t disagree but I think this oversimplifies the war on people in souther states through scare tactics and manipulation. These people didn’t vote in a vacuum. They have been radicalizing rural communities for decades for what seems like these very moments we are witnessing. Coal is just another smoke and mirrors tactic to grift and to continue to disenfranchise and promote anti- intellectualism in the American south. I seem to remember in right before covid that there were at least 3 major solar outlets offering free training and better wages to miners. They were ceremoniously met with zero interest cause “solar is woke” or some garbage like that. That level of delusion is the product of decades of grooming. Same with MTGs district, Bobart, etc.

I mean its the fact that change is scary. Many of these peoples great great grandfathers were miners. It has been the livelihood of these communities for more than a century now. So while I’m 100% for retraining and the such its hard to convince people who see change as a negative. Stick with what you know is rather normal.

Normal and completely unsustainable. Everything, EVERYTHING changes. If you don’t change with it you are actively holding back human progress for the sake of being afraid of the new. Not to mention that that sentiment is complete fed into and amplified by the gop.

Right? Like what the fuck. I can’t imagine ever going, “haha look at Eric’s penis. AOC is a legend!” or anything. I like AOC because she doesn’t do things like that. And if she did things like that, I would lose respect for her.

That was such a weird and weak “but both sides” attempt because it’s only based in a hypothetical situation where they can pretend they know how things will totally turn out.

Edit: oh. Surprise. That koofnoof’s history is not surprising at all. Apparently thinks conservative ideas such as hating trans people isn’t hateful because “the true hate is from the trans people hating themselves”. I’ve never once yet ever on here or reddit seem a stupid “both sides” come from anyone even remotely left leaning.
