Angry Checo is back
Ferrari gonna Ferrari, while Perez gets frustrated behind Hamilton.
What a horrible race
Verstappen’s utter dominance aside I like this season. It’s very unpredictable from 2 to 16

Russell: my tires are dead, I need to pit.
2 laps later: makes up 1.8 sec gap and passes Sainz.

Anyone watching the Sky kids broadcast?
Underrated part of Max’s driving is just how damn good he is at conserving tyres.
Consistently the last to pit on the same tyres… (along with Alonso)
He definitely deserves the “tire whisperer” monicker more than Checo.
He got that moniker partly because Racing Point loved starting on hards and going long. Not to say he didn’t execute well, but it was also a product of strategy.
also those were the old 13 inch tires
I don’t think Checo figured out the 18 inch tires like Max has
Great point, absolutely agreed!
I was laughing when the podium cars were lined up. Max’s tires were absolutely shredded, Checo’s were fairly bad, Lando’s had some light wear. Max makes it look easy to drive on tires that look like they were in a warzone.
It is bits of rubber outside of trajectory. Drivers drive on them after crossing finish line. They stick to the tires and add some weight. It helps from DQ in some cases.
Well, that is one way of swapping Charles and Carlos.
Crazy how firmly Ferrari have established themselves as the perpetual butt of the joke.
Ferrari please just one race without a fuckup.
We would see Ferrari change its color to blue before that happens
Zhou DotD
Poor Oscar for losing 2nd with strategy. Hopefully they can both stay on the podium at least.
Perez has won so many undeserved DOTD votes on the back of his shit qualifying performances.
Well its not DOTWeekend
Max was probably coasting most of the race while Perez was pushing. He still finished over half a minute behind Max. That was not only a shit qualifying performance, but also a bad performance today.
I think it should have gone to Lando. Being able to keep Checo behind like that in the last stint was impressive!
ahh yes, the weekly shifting of the perez expectation goalposts.
At least he makes it entertaining
not on his own merit
Sure, but still better than just seeing 2 red bulls just sail out front into a 1, 2
That manoeuvre is basically called “doing a Perez” at this point.
Max just Blitzed everyone else. That was insane. Everyone else is the one 1:22/1:23’s and Max drops a 1:20.5
The only way we’re going to see competitive figths for the win the coming years is if Red Bull seriously fucks up the car. I’m not trying to be defeatist or anything and I’m in complete awe of his skill, but Max is actually just levels above.
Max is one of those generational talents that is just going to be blisteringly fast in any kind of machinery, but when he’s given a good car he’s unstoppable.
Mclaren has gotten closer, and if they stay on their current trajectory we might see something.
The thing is Max is good enough that somewhat equal machinery isn’t going to make any difference, except reduce the gap he wins by. I’m genuinely convinced he needs a significantly weaker car for there to be an actual fight. He really is that good.
When he eventually retires after going into some other disciplines like WEC, I’m fairly sure he’ll be considered one of (perhaps the) best drivers of all time.
Completely agree.
Pre-2021 Max was fighting with prime LH in a significantly worse car, and while not regularly winning, he was still fast.
I hope to see him in WEC and other disciples. If he can win there too he’ll definitively be considered one of the best drivers of all time up there with Clark and a few others.
I’m glad you mentioned Clark because that is actually the name that I think of too when I see Max, especially what with him casually being able to compete with the best sim racers in the world as a hobby in parallel to being perhaps the best F1 driver we’ve ever seen.
I think he’ll be in that same discussion of just universal genius drivers who can be instinctively fast in anything.
I agree. And I think the only way Redbull will end up with a significantly weaker car during these regs is if reduced windtunnel and CFD time dramatically stacks up.
And he’ll probably pull enough of a gap he could pit, put on softs, and do a 1:19 if he wanted
Well you aren’t wrong. 31 second gap at the end
Did Max just casually do 1.20.5? What?
