Officials previously said the balloon, which is hovering at between 43,000 to 45,000 feet, does not appear to pose a national security threat to the U.S.

I’m curious what the frequency of these types of balloons are and if it’s increasing or we’re just more focused on them. There were supposedly some tweaks to sensors last year that started to include balloons and other objects that would have been previously filtered out as noise in the data. So, they’re at least probably getting detected more often. If it’s a matter of being more focused on them, then I wonder what risks they’re concerned about.

So really, all we have to do is modulate the shield frequency and we’re good. :)

But why not just reverse the polarity of the primary power coupling?

I don’t know but I am absolutely sure the final solution will include the main deflector dish.

More focused for sure. I see a good amount of people who use weather balloons as private individuals in my expirences in the amateur radio communites.

It seems it had a sticker that said it was owned by an Amateur balloon operator and was not an Iranian drone.

How did they figure that out? The article said nothing.

Maybe the owner called and asked if anyone had seen his balloon.

Yes, that’s how they read the sticker that was written in Farsi.

Wondering that too. I love how many people contributed to that article with so little content.

How is it not a threat to flight safety? Seems like if you hit it with an airplane it would foul the turbines.

It’s a dangerous time to be an amateur balloonist.

Wouldn’t that make it an identified balloon?
