      Huhu grubs

People have told me both chicken and peanut butter.

I don’t get how there can be any ambiguity bergen those two tastes.

I remember reading once that eating insects would be more efficient than eating beef or meat from larger animals. We can harvest from large animals about 60 to 70 percent of their mass as protein … if we did the same for insects, over 90 percent of their mass would be protein.

I honestly don’t see any problem with the last nine words as long as it’s the same for everyone

I don’t know what’s in my food now, I own nothing now, and I’m not happy. I know this is some scaremongering quote, but how is it meant to instil fear when the status quo is already shit?

The fuck is this logic. They’re bugs, therefore not food? People eat them, so they are food by definition.

idk man 🤔 people eat all sorts of things but that doesn’t make these things food “by definition”

Plus people do eat bugs. It’s just that here most of our bugs are tiny and not really suitable for meals so we think of them as pests.

Small bugs should be eaten in portions of a few, just like shrimp. Unlike larger (water) bugs like lobsters, which can make up a whole meal.

How did it taste? I had a tofu-mealworm burger patty once and it was actually quite good

It wasn’t terrible but I wouldn’t order it again. If I’m going to eat bugs I’d rather they be ground up and packed together. Or that they’re big enough that the meat can be removed from the shell like a shrimp. I’d try the tofu-mealworm burger.

So fun fact about that: land insects actually trigger the same allergies as shellfish due to the fact that they’re closely related
Some of them also apparently function similarly in the kitchen, since some people who’ve had tarantula said that it’s a lot like softshell crab

Damn. If shrimp is a bug then I may have been missing out on trying other kinds.
