Is it real? Is it maintained by the same developer as Infinity For Reddit?

you know, you can block ads on Android. add as many trackers as you want, NextDNS will just sinkhole them 🤷‍♂️ it works just like PiHole. Adguard is good too. no need for any subscription.

Yeah, tried sync since that was my reddit app of choice but the ads and tracking just forced me to uninstall it. Trying thunder now and it seems pretty good

Summit has gotten really good too, and has infinite scrolling and edge-to-edge display.

I don’t really get the drive towards Sync. Sure, it’s familiar, but lots of better options out there.

Hard disagree, every other Lemmy app feels sloppy and doesn’t work half the time. Sync ftw

You should try Summit - after tweaking for 5 minutes it’s what I wish Sync would look like. Aesthetically it’s awesome!!

Sync still wins based on functionality and ljdawson’s tendency to make sure everything works as intended, but I like the look of Summit more.

It will. There has been a commit with a more experimental loading system, but apparently it isn’t completely ready yet and breaks images.

Ok now I see the reason for the post, why I didn’t see this before?

The only one thing that I missed from reddit was Infinity, now I feel complete.

Apologies in advance for the dumb question, but it’s not yet ready for download right? Or am I missing something?

Go to releases. This is in the bar where you also find the issues

Or use Obtainium to automatically install and update it.

          Edit: Updates the link

Oh my God, thank you so much!! Responding on Infinity now.

I’m github illiterate but I loved Infinity so this is huge for me!

Just realized it’s not even github so I may be illiterate in more ways than I thought.

The API will come soon! (seriously its being worked on if you don’t know lol)

Whether we’ll be using Sync when time comes is another thing lol.

Infinity won’t let me log in. So far I’m really liking Sync. And I’m completely fine with a subscription at it’s current price. I’m happy to support devs. 8 don’t like working for free. Not sure why they should have to. And so it’s either ads or subscriptions. Pick your poison.

Please think really hard for a moment and try to consider whether there are more ways to purchase something than by subscription or ad support.

There would be a lifetime one time payment option coming up.

That is actually what I was referring to, yes. It is a much better option than a subscription.

No I wasn’t. I was talking about a one-time purchase, which is the default option for most products in existence.

One time payments would be great, but the devs make a lot more from subscriptions. You don’t see services like Netflix or Hulu offering one time payments options. As a consumer, I love it, but the devs might not be able to sustain the app from that model. I’d be interested if you have any other ideas though.

You’ve moved the goalposts. First, you said this:

I’m happy to support devs. 8 don’t like working for free. Not sure why they should have to. And so it’s either ads or subscriptions.

In other words, if you don’t pay a subscription or see ads, the developer gets no money at all. You’re using the app “for free.”

Now you’re saying that it’s not “for free,” just not enough to make a living. And what’s more, you’re using a mere suspicion to justify your very confident insistence that we need to “pick our poison,” and that a one-time purchase is just not an option.

Basically, my point is that you need to choose what point you want to make and stick with it, because your argument has changed dramatically in the course of just two comments.
