Yeah, and it’s Incredible! I’m typing this from Infinity for Lemmy. It’s great!
Super excited to see it available on Fdroid!
EDIT: looking forward*, not excited. sorry
It’s on F-Droid?

I cant find it , just the infinity for reddit there !!
Not on fdroid yet, it is available on their codeberg repo. https://codeberg.org/Bazsalanszky/Infinity-For-Lemmy/releases
Thank you
Edit: I’m so dumb, the post is already linked
You can use obtainium on fdroid to keep it updated

Nice. Can’t wait to get it through the play store.
Just sideload. Else the dev has to pay like $100 a year
@newIdentity @SnowBunting I thought $100 annual was Apple? Last I saw my play developer account was a one time of $20 or 30
Oh. Yeah that might be true. I Avent actually looked that up
This is perfect. My absolute favorite app for Reddit. I’m 100 percent Lemmy now.
First comment from Infinity for Lemmy!
Infinity was my app of choice for like 2ish years, it still works with Reddit atm but when I moved to Lemmy the only real app was Jerboa, and man it was not the same
I delt with it tho, in the hopes that one day Infinity would be for Lemmy
And omg ITS BACK BAYBE
I am way too stocked over a Lemmy app, but man Infinity is lightning fast, super smooth, and beyond customizable! So I won’t be needing Jerboa or Liftoff anymore
I am home!
I’m the same as you, it immediately feels familiar and intuitive. For a while there learning a new app while also learning how lemmy worked was like learning a new language, haha
Same here! This is the beauty of open source software!!! Nothing is required from the original dev for the community to take the software and repurpose it for something else.
Worth noting it is not affiliated with the original dev. This guy forked it and took the name.
And filled it with ads. Gutted.
The beauty of open source!
meh, it’s a bit shit if the original dev wants to make his own Lemmy app.
He said he would not
He didn’t and this is the whole point of open source.
The infinity dev literally said to fork it because he has no plans to support lemmy himself.
Pretty sure the original developer of Infinity is one of the few people who will try to follow Reddit’s new API rules and charge a subscription fee to cover it. At least that was the case a few months ago. Not sure what’s currently happening.
Yep, that’s the reason why infinity still works. Seems like they gave the devs who want to continue some time to figure it out.
It’s been very quiet on that front
A lot of people (myself included) are using a modded version of Infinity that allows you to put in your own API key.
You don’t even need to do that, still works without doing anything.
Yeh, little worried dev is gonna get a huge bill from Reddit
I already love it
I JUST realised that the app icon is NOT a mole with red glasses looking up from a hole in the ground. Huh.
I head to look at it for a good minute to figure out what else it could be. lol
Lol you are right!
Oh
…holy crap, same. This makes me uncomfortable.
“Kept you waiting, huh?”
Thunder app is great!
Jerboa app is great!
Infinity app is great!
Bulk Crap Uninstaller app is great!

Hm, I can’t see it in Play store. I’m in EU.
Go to releases on codeberg
I installed obtainium and added the codeberg url as a new app. I clicked on allowing pre-releases, and allowed obtainium to install apps. It sees there’s an upgrade (0.0.7) as I’m currently on 0.0.6. however, when I click to update, it doesn’t do anything, keeps showing the same version.
Any tips on what I could be doing wrong?
I used to have this issue, but 0.0.8 is now out. Obtanium pulls in that release just fine!
Thanks - worked for me too!
I had no idea Sync cost this much.
So let’s donate to free apps as well to support the development.
The original used to be my favourite reddit client, so I’m really happy to see there’s a semi-fuctional lemmy fork.
So this means another lemmy app for me to install. I’m still switching between apps
I still have 8 lemmy apps installed on my phone lol
Heh me too!
Is this only for iOS so far? Not seeing it on f-droid or play store.
Yeah, I’m also still waiting for anything other than Jerboa to finally show up on F-Droid.
I’m kinda picky about installing stuff on my phone (especially from untrustworthy sources like Google Play), and I like the additional vetting F-droid package maintainers do. Does “IzzyOnDroid” do similar vetting, or is it just grabbing whatever from upstream and distributing it without human intervention?
The IzzyOnDroid Inclusion Policy is very similar to F-droid’s, just slightly less strict.
If you want further details check IzzyOnDroid Index.
I just upgraded to Infinity, but I was previously using Liftoff which was on F-Droid and worked great!
I’m searching F-droid for it but not seeing Liftoff. I tried searching both via the app itself and via https://duckduckgo.com/?q=liftoff+site%3Afdroid.org
Weird! Well, I technically use Droidify so maybe that’s the reason? Either way, I also recommend Droidify to F-Droid because of security issues so try Droidify and then also try Liftoff if you’d like.
Droidify includes IzzyOnDroid Repo by default amongst others.
There’s no real security difference between Droidify & F-droid or any other Popular FOSS F-droid client. They just serve a GUI to the same backend and servers.
You can download apk from the ‘Releases’ tab on the codeberg page.
Oh thanks for the tip! I didn’t even realize there was a codeberg link in the post.
Yeah there is a apk link you can just download and run also.
https://codeberg.org/attachments/fb4c1045-ab21-4ac0-8624-758b367eab53
This will install the app without any app store.
You can also throw the releases page URL into obtainium and toggle to include pre-releases and it’ll notify you of any updates/install them.
Wow, that’s quite useful.
