I think it was “The number PI” or what the movie was called. Very schizophrenic, including lobotomy.
The title is just “Pi”, and it’s by Darren Aronofsky, who has gone on to create a number of excellent movies.
The Hills Have Eyes
Original, remake, or both?
I’m awful with horror and I thought the remake was cheesy as fuck. I don’t remember feeling unnerved when I watched it.
Ah. Fair enough. I remember seeing the remake in theaters (not seeing the original) and being pretty disturbed afterwards (CONTENT WARNING: SA…The rape scene is what did it). Although after all the other shit I’ve watched, I guess it’s not as disturbing anymore.
I watched a lot of movies when there was a cheap rental place nearby. I remember finally watching the hills have eyes and thought that was exceptionally bad. Just bad as in not good in any way or form. So of course I watched the second one and it was worse. And I had to watch the remake, because maybe they decided to make a better one. No, even worse.
There might be one worse film I’ve seen in my life which I just picked up for the cover from the same place. Not sure what it was but essentially nothing happened in it. Looked it up on IMDb and it was about two stars. Wasn’t surprised.
Haven’t thought of a disturbing one yet. It’s an interesting question.
I remember those days of cheap rental places you could walk to. Good times.
I’ve only seen the remake, didn’t think the old ones would be that bad. Good to know.
What was the 2 stars one called?
I wish I remembered. Could have a look at what the bottom of the list looks like these days.
Do you have a physical list? I wish I still had one.
The remake
Yeah. I commented on it below somewhere. That one scene kinda fucked me up for a while. Especially seeing it in theaters.
The Girl Next Door (2007) Is a true story about an abused girl. Very disturbing
Never made it to the end. Just couldn’t.
For me it was “Dear Zachary”. Mostly because it’s a documentary, not because it’s gory or anything. It’s just a heart wrenching documentary.
Its also full of distortions, its far from accurate if you look into it
As far as I can tell no one has mentioned American History X yet. That is a powerful (but fucked up) movie.
Saw that in the cinema and went into real (medical) physical shock at the kerb-stomping scene. I’d never thought of or seen that before. Holy crap, it shook me for hours after as I warmed up again, etc.
Saw it in the cinema and it’s the only time I’ve come out of a movie to dead silence, everyone just walking out in silent shock
Requiem for a Dream is an incredibly powerful film that is worth watching once, then never again.
One of my all time favorite movies, but yeah it’s fucked up.
Also, the soundtrack is absolutely banging

Why does it bother you? I like the movies.

I’m not going to ask you to go into personal details, but I will attempt to understand by competly guessing.
You said most movies bother you and its something to do with sensitivity, so I’m guessing its a visual sensitivity that makes the constant flickering or movement on screen terrible for you???
If thats the case, I could see how The Incredibles 2003 CG, many bright and dark scene, unstable movment in pretty much evety scense from the fire, underwater, everything in the jungle, and the robots fights can be unsettling.
That or you’re actually a villain. Most movies bother you because the villains loose. Incredibles was particually hard because the villan lost big time. Just a guess.

‘Meet the Feebles’ is up there.
I know there are some obscure arthouse/avant garde films that I’ve forgotten that would qualify.
Must Lucio Fulci movies.
Threads (1984)
Want to see a movie that breaks from the typical happy ending trope? Right here.
Mother! was disturbing and great. One of the few Aronofsky that I stomached and enjoyed watching more than once
I like that film, and like most of his films, it’s an only need to watch once experience. It was definitely not the most fucked up movie I ever saw.
Phil Tippett’s Mad God. It took the man like ~30 years to make the most fucked up, fever dream of a stop motion movie. I don’t know what would be worse, watching it sober or high on anything.
I like to imagine, that like Stephen King, he did some wild drugs. But instead of writing a book and moving on, he just kept getting absolutely zooted for 30 years until this movie was done. Because that is the only reason that would justify that movie’s creation.
Sublime. It is not about the band.

Is pretty high up there for me. Guy does a photoshoot of himself fucking a corpse after performing an autopsy on it.
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0102522
For a lot of the same reasons.
But if you want something arty, https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0101420 has some pretty insane imagery.
Begotten is so weird, I don’t think I’ve ever managed to pay attention all the way through.
Compliance stands out to me as something I watched and vowed never to watch again.
I struggle with those kind of themes. Anything involving rape or sexual violence.
obviously not a fucked up film, but Priscilla Queen of the Desert has one scene involving gay bashing makes the film too hard to sit through for me.
