Kamala was live on CNN about 30 minutes ago with Anderson Cooper. She was trying to save face and Anderson Cooper interrupted her. Anderson told Kamala that Biden’s performance at the debate was a disaster and a train wreck.

I’m honestly surprised to see that CNN is negatively covering Biden.

There are a lot of voters who can’t find Palestine on a map, but pretty much everyone can recognize old and rambling.

Just being able to spell “genocide” and recognize that it’s not the new wings-and-mozzerella appetizer at Geno’s Pizza puts a voter well into the 70th percentile of American political discourse.

While I think the issue of Gaza and Biden supporting genocide goes beyond poll numbers, the reality is that polls show Gaza is way down the list of voter concerns, even for young voters.

        Death to America.

I wonder how the Europeans are doing? They sacrificed their economy for this guy and the other guy was talking about dismantling NATO during his presidency. I’m sure they’re all feeling wonderful in their decisions.

Europeans feel superior to the American people who they consider to be uncultured swine with nothing but guns and cheeseburgers on their mind. Europeans also feel houndishly loyal to the American state, as they give it sole credit for saving them from the horrors of Nazism and communism. Received wisdom in Europe is that America is the benevolent big brother who keeps us safe from the “jungle” with their bloated military and that any break with America would be the recipe for disaster and Russian/Chinese invasion of ever inch of land from Portugal to Svalbard.

Trump represented a big ideological problem for Europeans as he was the leader of the American while also being placed solidly in the “average American idiot” category by his theatrics. Other presidents acted the part, not confusing the Europeans. Even the visibly demented Biden has been able to project sufficient “professional elite” vibes for Europeans to accept him. Maybe this will change now the powers that be has decided that Biden’s dementia is an acceptable topic of conversation.

I was watching with a friend who is pretty left but has a US flag hanging in his house and dank brandon meme coffee cups, before the debate he had an attitude like “oh man Trump is about to get smoked”. Ten minutes in he’s like “what the fuck is happening” and couldn’t finish it, immediately afterwards he’s talking about other candidates that they should put forward. It’s going to be embarrassing to support Biden at this point even among the libs.

I just saw a clip of Biden that someone posted in another thread, and it honestly REALLY hit me. Listening to him flounder and trail off mid sentence reminded me of my dad, who is just a few years younger than Biden.

Except like my dad just wants to chill and read books all day, not enfornce neoliberal hegemony worldwide.

This late game swapping horses will also add legitimacy to trump’s argument to delegitimize the election should he lose in November so it’s fucking win win for him. fucking liberals fumbling the bag as usual. This feels like October 2020 when the emails came up again but it’s fucking July! Glad liberals are malding RN free Palestine

Likely no but keep an eye on this for the next day. If it fizzles out it will fizzle out like tomorrow morning. I’m gonna find out what Morning Joe says, its Biden’s fox & friends.

At least two admitting to crying watching Biden’s performance. So many talking about needing to get drunk or high to the cope with the outcome of the debate

Most of them are starting to realize that Biden is old and not firing on all cylinders, and that the Democrats are in deep, deep trouble with the election if their candidate can barely sound coherent during the debates. One person quietly said that Biden was making Trump look sane by comparison

Then the debates as to who could even replace him began. AOC? Too young. Bernie? Too radical. Clinton no because the GOP hate her. Harris? Maybe that’s why she’s been out of the spotlight, so she can take over without any scandals. Newsom wasn’t even floated but RFK was

A Bluesky post subheader is: “He must withdraw from the race.”

    President Biden, I’ve Seen Enough

    By Nicholas Kristof

President Biden is a good man who capped a long career in public service with a successful presidential term. But I hope he reviews his debate performance Thursday evening and withdraws from the race, throwing the choice of a Democratic nominee to the convention in August.

One of the perils facing this country, I believe and Biden believes, is the risk of a victory by Donald Trump. And after the debate, it’s hard to avoid the feeling that Biden remaining in the race increases the likelihood that Trump will move into the White House in January.

Biden has never been a great debater, but his voice and manner didn’t put to rest the doubts about his age and effectiveness. Rather, he amplified them. I happened to chat today with a woman who is undecided about whom to vote for — she says she distrusts both Trump and Biden but will choose based on who will do better for the economy — and I bet that now she will be supporting Trump.

In some sense, this may be unfair. This was one debate. A candidate’s physical frailty, hoarse voice and rambling responses may not be good predictors of how that person will govern. But in this election, they probably are good predictors that the candidate will lose in November and not have a chance to govern again.

We see the world through narratives, and one of the narratives about Biden is that he is too old. His performance reinforced that narrative when he needed to shatter it. Biden, unable to puncture Trump’s repeated falsehoods, allowed a convicted felon to win the debate.

Biden can resolve this by withdrawing from the race. There isn’t time to hold new primaries, but he could throw the choice of a successor to the Democratic National Convention in Chicago. The Democratic Party has some prominent figures who I think would be in a good position to defeat Trump in November, among them Gov. Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan, Senator Sherrod Brown of Ohio and Gina Raimondo, the secretary of commerce. And there are many others.

My phone has been blowing up with texts from people saying, as one put it: “Dear God. What are we going to do?” Another, also a fan of Biden, texted: “It’s imperative we change horses.” But Democrats have been reluctant to say this out loud and undermine Biden. So it will be up to Joe and Jill Biden to make this choice themselves.

This will be a wrenching choice. But, Mr. President, one way you can serve your country in 2024 is by announcing your retirement and calling on delegates to replace you, for that is the safest course for our nation.
