German unification was a highly taboo subject until very near the 20th century. Italy was likewise a bunch of microstates, there was no such thing as ‘Italy’. Spain, France, and England would all be horrified at how weakened their monarchies are. The Netherlands. The Ottoman empire just whole ass doesn’t exist anymore. Russia would be scandalized at the fact that they murdered their Tsar and his family, followed by the better part of a century’s rule by an expressly atheist government (though Putin is something of a Tsar himself, so that might allay some of their anxieties). I think the worst part of his dipshit argument is that he thinks human culture has ever existed in a vacuum. People have been migrating in and out of Europe and everywhere else since the stone age. England as it exists now is the result of several centuries of settling by different peoples and cultures, just like every other country. Like 99% of every language spoken in Europe (except for things like basque) came from somewhere else, and their religion is middle eastern. It’s only natural that this would intensify now that travel is so much easier and everything is interconnected.
