A good chunk of the time I can’t share images because they’re in Webp format. Is there a way to force a different format? I don’t know if it’s a function of the content or Boost.
What’s stopping you from sharing a webp? Recipients don’t have a compatible app?

I can’t send webp pic through text messages, I have to screenshot them to be able to send them.
I know, and it’s bullcrap.
I’m using FB Messenger Lite. Telegram may have the same problem, but I’m 100% on that.
Some messaging clients don’t support it either, it’s still a mess after all these years
FB Messenger Lite is one of those that doesn’t.
If it’s an image that doesn’t have to be very high res, you can try taking a screenshot and cropping to keep just the photo.

I think you need to complain to the company making your messaging app. If they don’t support webp Boost can’t do anything about it.
Is the lack of support webp’s fault? Is it fair to hate webp?
Since I’m able to share gif, jpg, png files with no problem, then, yeah, I’m going to say this is webp’s fault. Yes, I’m blaming a file format. /s(?)

Image toolbox is good. Its on the fdroid repo
Cant you just change the extension to .png without any converter?
Hadn’t even thought of that. From what I’ve seen, changing the file extension just makes the file unusable.
Like downloading images? Every image I’ve downloaded from boost has been either jpeg or png, might be something with the specific post(s) or instance(s) you browse
I get a lot of gifs when I download stuff.
