Managed to pick the parcel up on the way back from the dentist. I also had another parcel coming from Amazon which apparently needed a password to be delivered, but my case manager put her number down on the order, so the delivery man called her and she gave him the code and he left it.

Had to get a filling today, and he anaesthetised my face. I dislike my face being anaesthetised, but it did mean i didn’t feel a thing after the initial needle jab. I’m starting to regain feeling now. Apparently I need 1 more filling and then I’ll be referred off to somewhere or rather to have my wisdom teeth removed. I’m going to see if I can have it done privately, because it’ll be a year or more wait to get it done through the dental hospital. Also, they’ll probably put me completely under (which to be honest I’m terrified of), whereas a dental surgery place will probably just use a ton of local anaesthetic (according to the dentist).

Either way it’s going to fucking suck.

I also had a thought while I was at the dentist: if we ever discover scary unfriendly aliens, we should just mildly sedate them and make them go to the dentist. The dentist is terrifying, even when it doesn’t hurt.

Had a team member return to work today after a lengthy holiday. It’s been so peaceful without him. Hopefully he has another job lined up and can fudge off into the sunset.

Does your team actively avoid interacting with you AND only communicates through email and teams messages?

        If not, you’re safe.

I think in the two weeks leading up to his holiday, I was the only person who spoke with him.

is this a bad thing? I’ve got a college who ignores us IRL and over teams.

I’d take a longer who at least replies on teams to the rude bastard I’ve got in my office.

It’s not a bad thing overall, but it does depend on the reasons. This bloke is just hard work and irritates kind of everyone. Harder to irritate in writing.

ah fair enough. Isn’t him actively avoiding everyone kind of a good thing then? Or is it more just a “dragging down the overall mood” type deal?

I think I wasn’t too clear…we all avoid him cause he’s irritating. If he calls anyone, it’s usually ignored and messages and emails get sent.

And he definitely brings everyone’s mood down.

I have been burned many times from not having stuff clearly in writing. While I don’t personally have a problem with communicating face-to-face, I absolutely understand why someone would.

Hey look, all my ‘official’ comms are in writing of some form. I was talking about regular chats and such. No one wants to talk him cause he’s just rude and irritating.

Yeah sorry, I realized my statements were unclear :)

We WISH he avoided people, although maybe he’ll start getting the message shortly.

False alarm on the last comment, apparently it’s some tradie dude measuring our fence to install a security gate. Would’ve been nice if somebody warned me so I don’t prepare the battle stations and charge out as if somebody’s casing the joint, but I guess not

Morning all. Hope you had a great weekend.

I was in the mood for a horror movie set at camp and found a couple. I watched one made in 83 called Camp Sleepaway. It actually wasn’t too bad, has some out of date thinking around some issues (won’t say because it’s a spoiler) but the special effects are surprisingly really good, especially for the 80s.

And how good was 80s fashion??

Also I’ve noticed in the older movies, kids sound whiny as. Think how Luke Skywalker sounds at the start of a New Hope. That high pitched whine when he can’t go to Toshi Station.

But the real star of the show was this guy. The total package and screen stealer. I laughed for a good five minutes at this part.

Has anyone used Wix to make a website? I’m thinking of creating an author website but have zero experience in making them so if possible I’d love to use something idiot proof and hear Wix is good for that.

I have used Wordpress before and might have to bite the bullet. Wix is a bit too expensive for me.

I use Wordpress and it’s not that user friendly, but is achievable if you are willing to fiddle around with things. Different templates have different options, I spent a fair bit of time at the start just doing a rough sample and changing around various settings to figure out what they did. The biggest issues I had was using too many higher resolution photos at the start which slowed down loading times a lot, and at one point an upgrade broke a few things so I had to go through and re-link photos and I lost the side bar and shortcuts (which one day I will probably get around to recreating).

I had a client engage a web developer who in-turn used Wix to create a basic site. It was a pretty negative experience for us, but it was cheap to host. We had issues splitting off a dev/staging site in particular. It’s been about 6 years, my memory is foggy and the product may have improved.

Wix might be ok for a sole trader and a quiet website though. I wouldn’t recommend it for any business that wanted to regularly maintain/update their site.

I’ve been using Wordpress lately and there’s been a decent learning curve with that. I’ve persevered but it’s far from idiot proof. Have a look at Squarespace, that was the other option I was considering and is more beginner friendly. I think Wix is seen as cheap/tacky.

I have pikag coming today, but it’s going to come right when I’m at the dentist. I can’t ask them to leave it because apparently the sender specifically told them they’re not allowed to. They don’t usually get parcels to the post office until after they close, and the post office is a PITA to get to by PT, so I probably won’t get pigak until Friday :(

They’ve been promising me for the last week that it will come on either Tuesday or Thursday, and it was just sitting in sunshine west all weekend, but no, apparently at 8:30 they transferred it to Melbourne airport and gave it to a van man at 9:02. The one time I’m unhappy about them being efficient ☹️

I figured out how to export a list of the music people I listen to from Spotify and into a spreadsheet and I am having wayyyyyy too much fun with this.

I listen to 1,147 different people (on average that means each of them appear around 1.3 times in my liked songs playlist). Of those, 70 start with "The " (3 more start with “The” as part of their names, ie Thelma Houston)

I don’t even know who like 70% of these people are, they just happen to appear on one random song I liked on May 7th, 2021, and now forever reside on my playlist.

But there’s a JoJo, JoJi, Ruji, Bazanji, benee, war Paramore, Christian Wannerwall, 2 different doctors, 10 different dudes named John, and 3 little people (plus 6 lil people). One person is registered (®), one is incorporated, and there’s 2 people with $ in their names. And don’t forget Dan Andrews

I don’t know why I’m doing this instead of sleeping, but I currently don’t regret my actions

Ugh… the house is a mess and it’s hard to move.

    Repair rambles

The embroidery thread I ordered off eBay was the wrong colour (that’s on me for going off memory) so I split some grey yarn I already had. Still a little thick so it might have to be done again if the individual strands are strong enough.

I found an old waistband from a pair of trackies I altered years ago but ultimately got rid of because they were far too low rise. They might do but the colour doesn’t match. I’m aware trackies aren’t a highbrow style but I want them to be presentable.

If it wasn’t for cost of fabric and the work I’d almost sew my own.

I wonder if my old sewing machine even works anymore.

I took Force’s unwanted great day today and it was rather meh so I can understand why it was rejected.

Had a mix of running around to do laundry for stuff I couldn’t do at home, and working from multiple places. The office was completely empty, which was weird and off-putting, but I was glad someone turned up at the end. Had my first in person conversation in quite a while. My body needed it but that has also now exhausted me, so I think it’ll be an early night for me.

Tomorrow is the early start day. I dowanna… I also really don’t feel ready to handle the drive again, after today’s brief but awful time on the road, but I’ll have to. At least I have my nice android auto unit to make it more bearable!

I think the next few days are still going to be slow. I am definitely not 100%. Stupid blasted night time cough be gone already.
