I actually like a lot of classic rock (yes even Hotel California, that solo kicks ass) but there is a lot of bad classic rock too. What do you think the worst classic rock song is? What is the most overrated band or artist? I think Supertramp is mid at best, but Bob Seeger is truly dreadful.
I have faith in the power of Don’t Stop Believin’ but I heard it at the wrong time a couple of days ago and I wanted to rip the walls apart. It’s just not a breakfast before work type of song.
oh I hate Don’t Stop Believin’, I remember its resurgence around the mid-to-late 00s and it annoyed the shit out of me
I was a bartender and we did karaoke and I heard that fucking song probably 3+ times a night and it’s even worse when the people can’t sing
It was because of Bones. I can almost guarantee it.
Gravity Falls had a fantastic in-show parody that Mabel sings at karaoke called “Don’t Start Un-Believing”.
MC5 was pretty based
You know I had an album called “Classic Rocks” that was either rock arrangements of classical music of classical arrangements of rock music and I can’t remember which but it was cool.
I thought this was gonna be a joke where it was a photo album filled with pictures of common rocks
Oh hell yeah that’s a fun coffee table book idea
The more I think about it, the better it gets

Everything by Jefferson Airplane sounds like they were trying to make music as repulsive as humanly possible.
What is the most overrated band or artist?
Every shitty hair metal band that only sings about misogyny and doing drugs lol
Where’s that tweet about being pumped to see KISS with their badass facepaint and them going “I WANNA ROCK AND ROLL ALL NIGHT 😜AND PARTY EVERYDAY”
God that song fucking sucks
It’s a fun chorus but then it’s just that chorus for the entire song
Worst classic rock song: slow ride by foghat
Most overrated: zeppelin
I see your zeppelin and raise you the beatles as most overrated.
seinfeld ient funny either
The Beatles are good, this is a hate thread so I will leave it at that
40% of Beatles
40% of cops
This is why I refuse to research any artist or band. They make music and I know nothing other than that for any band. I wonder if David Bowie is going to release anything soon.
Lol
The MUSIC is good, the people… Eh
Revolution 1 is a fucking embarassment, John Lennon actually died from terminal lib brain

Slow Ride is SO LONG. How do you have a song that gets its point across in 5 seconds go on for 8 minutes?
Well it’s not called “fast ride”, now is it
It’s such an unbelievably shit song
Take it easy
Came here to post this
What do you think the worst classic rock song is?
Jack & Diane
What is the most overrated band or artist?
I’ve never liked Van Halen
The day that I stopped listening to commercial radio was the day I was driving a delivery van, and Jack & Diane came on for the millionth time. Out of song fatigue, I hit a preset button to switch from the classic rock station to the adult contemporary station, but the song just kind of skipped a few seconds. Weird.
Confusion turned to horror, as I realized the truth: The adult contemporary station was also playing Jack & Diane almost in sync with the classic rock station.
That’s it. I’m done. No more commercial radio, with 7-minute ad breaks, and 40-song playlists, if they can’t even manage a different 40 songs on different stations.
Doesn’t help that Clearwater or Clearchannel or whatever bought out every station in America.
Oh yeah Jack and DIane has strong highschool fascist energy.
The Rolling Stones suck so much. They got two good songs to be sure, but they’re aggressively mid more often than not. Hell, there earlier stuff just reminds me that I could be listening to far better black artists who were their contemporaries.
Paint it Black is the only song of theirs that I still listen to regularly and enjoy
Beast of Burden and Mother’s Little Helper are pretty good
“(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” would have been an infinitely better song if it were about Keef wanting to have a pistol duel at dawn with random people from the ad industry
Nonsense. The Stones are the shit and I will die on this hill. Have you ever listened to Exile on Main Street? I guess you never got your rocks off.
They have some good stuff, but most of their tunes have me thinking, "damn, I’d rather listen to some Link Wray or Lead Belly.
I’m assuming one of the two good songs is Dancing In The Street ft. David Bowie?
They’re fairly mid, but I gotta respect how long they’ve been going.
>ctrl+f “Black Sabbath”

I would block someone for not liking Black Sabbath. If you don’t like Sabbath, you’ve got nothing to say I wanna hear.
How can you hate a band that rhymes “masses” with “masses”?

I’m listening to some August '24 tiktok popular songs and a lot of these, despite being current, are candidates for being terrible classic rock songs. Or maybe soft rock? Idk, I’ve never been able to distinguish rock genres apart.
Not sure if bleachers even counts as Rock, but all their songs suck ass. Just like someone badly regurgitated 60s middle of the road rock.

That beautiful things song, Christ
i have always been kinda snobby but i detest basic bitch rock. verse chorus verse is an acceptable structure, but for like five straight decades we got music that was mostly about materialistic excess, and anything deeper was usually on the periphery - if you didn’t want more music about girls, cars, sex, having a good time then I have bad news.
But I like everything that rose to technically and lyrically interesting heights, and i hope someday rock and roll can reinvent itself from the old and ossified thing it has become.
if you didn’t want more music about girls, cars, sex, having a good time then I have bad news.
Every time some audio slop tried to pair “bar” with “car” I felt just a little more unhappy with that pairing.
The worst classic rock song is either Thunderstruck (AC/DC) or Hotel California.
Thunderstruck is fun but I can see why you wouldn’t like it, the riff repeats throughout most of the song.
I will continue to defend Hotel California. It has a catchy chorus, fantastic storytelling, an eerie premise, great chords, a robotic night man, a guitar solo that trades off between two guitars, and a dueling guitar solo at the end. It is a fantastic song and I’ll fight anyone who says otherwise. The only thing making you hate it is radio overplay.
Thunder Struck is a disco song in all but vocals
The chords are pretty standard harmonic minor chords and they’re cheesy.
“you can check out any time you like, but you can never leave” is such a good line it feels it was always there
