Raising prices as writers and actors are on strike, meaning no new content. That should go well for them.

They are losing subs already and they decided to raise prices. I don’t know how this makes any sense.

Pretty safe to assume, at least in the US, it’s always about profit maximization.

They looked at the success Netflix had with their crackdown and decided they could profit off of it too. Most people won’t go elsewhere, they’ll just pay for it and justify the price increase unfortunately. :/

But unless you’ve kids you’re more likely to drop Disney+. Even the recent Marvel series are meh 😕. I just cancelled mine

The second I read the news that Netflix made it work I knew Disney would. That’s free money as far as they would see it.

Lol, they’ll be fine. They saw how it worked for Netflix, so they decided to hop on board.

I’ll be looking for an alternative, but every option I can think of requires a lot more work, and most people just can’t be bothered.

Sure why not ? Most of the people don’t have voice, they just keep paying no matter what! Lol

All this password sharing crackdown is fucking frustrating.

My MIL doesn’t watch a lot of TV. She doesn’t have any cable or streaming services. But she does watch my kids a lot, so we have my Disney, Netflix, and Paramount set up on her TV.

So, what? Get the kids tablets? I know they shouldn’t watch a lot of TV, and my MIL is a saint and keeps them wicked busy most the day. She needs to plop them down and chill for a minute, especially when their baby cousin is there too.

Are there any specific series your kids are interested in? If there isn’t maybe you can cancel one or two subs, remove the apps on TV and the kids may not even notice, depending on their age. (I am assuming 5-10 based on your comment) D+ has Marvel and Star Wars but what does Paramount have appealing to kids? Maybe you can get Nickolodeon (apparently part of Paramount) from satellite.

The studios are just going to keep doing this as using streaming services as a loss leader has failed them, so please, support the strike.

The real trick is just subscribe for a month, watch everything you want, then cancel. No more concurrent subscriptions. All you need is one when you want. Not all year.

the REAL trick is to sail the seas and donate to the creator you like by buying bluray or merch

Yep, then you can watch anything you want any time you want. The secret ingredient is once again piracy.

Then they will introduce minimum contact lengths. I’m always surprised it wasn’t like that from the start actually.

People already bitch that Disney isn’t worth the current price and they want to make it cost that much more?!

I think it’s well worth the $80/yr annual sub, but I’m not sure how much higher I’d consider before just dropping it (and the article doesn’t say what the annual price is raising to). It’s basically only Star Wars & Marvel content (that I watch on it) and I believe they’re cutting back on both, so, not giving a real good value proposition here for someone that’s been subscribed since day one.

Combined with his comments on the strikes and he’s making a compelling argument for cancellation.

      @tjhart85 @tst123

Move to Canada! We stream everything for free!

(well kind of free … we don’t have laws against accessing sites to stream or download whatever you want … so yeah, it’s free)

They just raised the price to $109. My daughter watches Disney but I’m about to start downloading her shows and movies. That’s absurd.

More and more people will move back to torrenting and using their own media library manager like jellyfin
