Just wanted to share a thread for those who don’t regularly venture out of the bear site. Can’t cross-post since it’s defederated. It’s small but has some numbers about community counts, active users, etc and links to more info from https://lemmyverse.net/. Thought it was notable that Hexbear shows up no matter how you sort it.

OP image is community count sorted by active users in the last month.

Edit: sorted by comments

For some reason that’s still beyond my understanding, Sh.itjust.works and programming.dev are churning pits of chuddery. When they were still attached to Hexbear, every interaction I can remember with people with those suffixes ranged from maybe-later-kiddo maybe-later-honey to frothingfash i-am-adolf-hitler

I’m sorry if this is cringy, I literally only use HB (lurker), what’s .ml and why do they hate us? I was linked directly to HB when I started using, and haven’t ventured off until today but is .ml just Reddit with less users?

Lemmy.ml is the instance the lemmy creators own. They are also communists but its become a general instance (filled with liberals) since the reddit exodus. Lemmy.world is just reddit but with less users and is unfortuantly the largest instance by far. They “premptively defederated us, as a last resort” before we even enabled federation. sore-loser

It’s a more explicitly Marxist-Leninist instance instead of left unity like Hexbear and has more serious comms than shit posting.

HB is anti-sectarian, grad is strictly ML and generally more “serious.” HB is more fun to browse so I picked it over grad when branching from my older ML account.

I think ML are radical centrists who just want all teams to have fun and are ideologically opposed to censorship and defederation. The other instances are libs who start banning and blocking as soon as they hear something about communism that they don’t understand

Julian Assange is a bootlicker and Kremlin stooge who sold us out to the American and Russian billionaires. The Mueller Report proved he was explicitly trying to get Treason Trump elected and working with Putin to push disinformation to that end.

Now who’s bringing up politics everywhere? Guess it’s ok when it’s MSNBC slop

The world literaly just watched the American billionaire class coup the incumbent president through sheer media and money pressure.

But it was Assange that “sold us out”. Biden’s incompetence and evilness notwithstanding that is hilarious, like living in a cave.

It’s always funny how everyone just throws out nonsense about hexbear because they don’t know what to do with us.

There isn’t a spot for “Anti-Capitalist leftist” in their shape sorting game, so they try to shove us in the “teenage trolls” hole, but we probably average closer to 27-30.

Then they try to fit us in the q-anon maga hole, but that clearly doesn’t fit because we’ll bite your head off if you come at our trans homies and all our conspiracies are admitted to by the FBI/CIA.

So they post things like “they love the N word that’s why they got defederated” and people just believe it.

The classic go to was that we are “genocide deniers” because we don’t repeat the Uighur narrative nonstop - but that’s lost its bite after the libs openly became genocidal against Palestine and that genocide actually has deaths

At best it’s an overly strict re-education program with some individual discrimination by certain cops. That’s the most I’ll ever cede on the Xinjiang front, something was needed to deal with the CIA flooding ETIM terrorists over the Afghan border to stab 900 people. China didn’t bomb or kill anyone, unlike what the west does in their “counter-terrorist operations”

Yeah pretty much agree. When the UNHCR visit put out its report following the visit in 2022 it had almost the same conclusion. It was discarded whole cloth though by the same people who were calling for external investigations into allegations of human rights abuses in XJ only a short while earlier

By embracing BBS Forum Web 1.0 thought we continue to frustrate The Reddit Reconstructionists. I’ve lived in the late 90s through mid 2000s online and can say, it took the concerted effort of MySpace Brian, the Facebook Android, whoever sold Twitter to Elon Musk and a whole hell of a lot of money being intentionally poured in to defeat the force that was enteenched in the internet, it can be rebuilt and they don’t have the sauce to do it again, let alone reddit wannabes. How to tell on yourself as a lib in 2 sentences. The civility brains, when they say white American from the deep south they mean a racist. But if you say a racist is perfectly reasonable to talk to as long as it isn’t political, that raises some flags. So they disguise the fact that they do associate with and find racists pleasant to be around as long as the topic of politics is avoided lest they be reminded that they’re having a good time around a racist. It’s just a white man from the American deep south, the implications are clear but not overtly stated so they can seem to have progressive stances but show a complete spinelessness , cowardice and willingness to go along with those who cause harm so long as it isn’t openly shown to their face, and even then they’ll politely change the topic. Also the equivocate us with racists for not being as tolerant of racists as they are. I’d argue the person who is willing to associate with racists and says it’s totally fine and fun as long as the racism doesn’t get brought up is more comparable to a full out blood and soil racist.
