    So to summarise:

    • The Union Jack makes you love rules

    • Stars make you say that you hate rules

    • Full-height vertical red bars make you say that you love rules

    • Living in North America makes you hate rules

Americans love rules for everyone else, but not for themselves.

This is more accurate than it looks like at first glance. As an Australian, we like to think that we are all larrikin individuals. Actually we are mostly law-abiding freaks even under the most ridiculous constraints.

It’s interesting to hear the pov of an Australian. From the outsider’s perspective, I think you love rules given Australia’s outside reputation as a nanny state.

Even worse, we have a nasty habit of informing on our fellows. Not for murder, or other serious crimes, but for breaking stupid council rules and such. We call it dobbing. We dobb.

You say we are the most law abiding but also we are on average throwing bikes as much as anyone else. Can you pick a side please?

Some people will pick a fight about anything. Ok, I’m wrong, you discovered the killer point in my entire thesis!

Yep, as an Irish jaywalker, I was shocked to find not only is jaywalking not allowed, but you actually get fined. For crossing the road with no traffic.

Or even just being denied entry to a pub for racism or sexism. Its an offrnce not to leave immediately.

On the bright side, peopke clean their shit upnin parks and beaches for the most part.

Ever been to Alberta? It’s Texas lite and half the time doesn’t make sense.

We also hate rules (especially if you also say the name Trudeau)

I spent some time up there and I was surprised to find very similar sentiments to what I see here in Texas. Yee haw, fuck the law.

I’m from Québec, I’m very much from the North. I know in Québec we try to make our own rules just to piss off the rest of Canada.

But, I’m just curious as to what attitude you are referring to, towards Canadians. Because they’ve tried to impose their rules on us for quite a long time.

Don’t refer to other Canadians as if you aren’t also Canadian. Seperation didn’t happen, get over it.

Was not talking about separatist angst in Quebec, so much as the disregard for the letter of the law in the territories. Generally, if you’re not hurting anyone, no one cares what you’re doing, and are a little pissy about other people sticking their nose in your business.
