Naturalist remedies are popular in China. So I figure fungus(LSD and shrooms) and weed could be among the first psychedelics that will be legally distributed. I have no idea how far in the future.

    The primary (and, really, only) reason why I wouldn’t want to live in China is that I wouldn’t be able to smoke weed.

      Weed is fun, shrooms are mostly harmless, fun.

      Recreation for recreation’s sake. There’ no real justification for banning many recreational drugs but allowing alcohol. Alcohol is overwhelmingly more destructive than most recreation drugs.

        The only good thing Justin Trudeau ever did on his own was force full legalization down the throats of other legislators. I’m rather annoyed that I have him to thank for the existence of regulated stores carrying products that went through quality control.

          I dont thknk they would, but tjere’s no good reason most drugs to be illegal, especialy if alcohol is you standard for social amd individual harm

        Idk shrooms and weed can induce psychotic episodes, so I wouldn’t say they’re mostly harmless all drugs come with risks and downsides. Is banning and criminalising them the right idea? No, but pretending they’re harmless isn’t the way to go either.

    Somebody can look it up but some Chinese scientists are doing research to create medication derived from psychedelics without the tripping part

    I like this way better than just advocating for psychedelics themselves because bad trips are fucking terrifying and can easily set somebody back way worse than they were before

        I’m sorry, that sucks the bad trip turned you away from drugs. Nobody should have to go through life completely sober

          Idk I just realised I didn’t want to be high all the time anymore. I also thought it would make me less miserable, it didn’t. I don’t feel the need to socialise anymore though which is interesting and I don’t feel lonely anymore.

    Thc oil was “ legal” at some point mid 2000. Now it’s ban iirc.

    There is also a AIDS epidemic in Yunnan as a consequences of poverty and drug laws

      According to Article 72 on this page

      A person who commits one of the following acts shall be detained for not less than 10 days but not more than 15 days and may, in addition, be fined not more than 2,000 yuan; and if the circumstances are relatively minor, he shall be detained for not more than five days or be fined not more than 500 yuan:
      (1) illegally possessing opium of less than 200 grams, heroin or methamphetamine of less than 10 grams or a small amount of other narcotic drugs;
      (2) providing another person with narcotic drugs;
      (3) ingesting or injecting narcotic drugs; or
      (4) coercing a medical worker to prescribe narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances or cheating the worker into doing the same.

      So 1-2 weeks in jail and an under $300 fine for minor possession and use. Article 71 targets opium specifically with slightly higher penalties, but both of these are for small amounts - smuggling or manufacturing large amounts are covered in Section 7 of this page.

      Whoever smuggles, traffics in, transports or manufactures narcotic drugs and falls under any of the following categories, shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of 15 years, life imprisonment or death and also to confiscation of property:
      (1) persons who smuggle, traffic in, transport or manufacture opium of not less than 1,000 grams, heroin or methylaniline of not less than 50 grams or other narcotic drugs of large quantities;
      (2) ringleaders of gangs engaged in smuggling, trafficking in, transporting or manufacturing narcotic drugs;
      (3) persons who shield with arms the smuggling, trafficking in, transporting or manufacturing of narcotic drugs;
      (4) persons who violently resist inspection, detention or arrest to a serious extent; or
      (5) persons involved in organized international drug trafficking.

      So the death penalty is a possibility, although I’m not sure of any reliable numbers on how often that is invoked. Marijuana is defined as a “narcotic drug” in this law so the precise amount that separates a “large amount” from a “small amount” appears to be determined situationally.
