To highlight how absolutely stupid this bill is, it sounds like it would outlaw menstruation and nocturnal emissions.
Land of the free.
Edit: it sounds like this is intentionally facetious to point out the absurdity of other pro-life bills.
Yes, correct, it is as absurd as pro-life ideas.
I would love to outlaw menstruation too but my fucking body won’t listen to me
Careful, that post could be used against you in the court of law!
It respects the law.
Didn’t you hear? Our bodies answer directly to the government now
It’s really telling how much the Overton window in the US has shifted that you thought this was sincere to start with.
Nah, it ahows you how fast people are to comment without reading the article.
TBH it’s more that I have a naive work ethic and assume someone performing such a serious and impactful job would only do so sincerely, but I agree.
Menstruation is already outlawed if out includes an unimplanted but fertilized egg.
It’s just very hard to prove.
Uh, yeah?
If your weiner can’t behave when you are AFK it should be in jail!
If the Democrats aren’t going to be useful, I’m glad they’ve at least decided to be a little funny.
It’s a race to the bottom now. And the Republicans have a huge head start. Dems are nosediving to catch up.
This is taking No Nut November to a whole new level
In this thread:
A lot of men who didn’t read the article and didn’t got the satirical part of the act.
And given the last political polemic, I’m pretty sure these “men” are misrepresenting the article on purpose.
I want to believe this is a satirical bill meant to bring attention to how absurd a lot of other bills are, but it is Mississippi. And with how things are going these past several years, it’s becoming harder and harder to tell at face value if something is an Onion or not.
Did you know that Mississippi is the anus of the US?
Here’s to the land you’ve torn out the heart of/
Mississippi find yourself another country to be part of/
This could absolutely be used to keep prisoners in prison, and also probably criminalize gay men.
You should read the article before commenting.
It shall be unlawful for a person to discharge genetic material
Genetic Material is DNA. Dry skin falling off is technically discharging genetic material. As is bleeding…
Technically a woman would be grossly violating this with every period… or by giving birth.
In a statement to WLBT News, Blackmon wrote, “All across the country, especially here in Mississippi, the vast majority of bills relating to contraception and/or abortion focus on the woman’s role when men are fifty percent of the equation.
This bill highlights that fact and brings the man’s role into the conversation. People can get up in arms and call it absurd but I can’t say that bothers me.”
Did you miss this?
Good! We need to STOP KILLING KIDS (unless it’s with Gun Control!)! Wait a Democrat wrote this? Just kidding this is STUPID!
How did you misunderstand the article?
He posed this because we only talk about women’s roles in abortions. It’s a stunt bill.
So nobody is going to talk about how he said “without the intent to fertilize an embryo” and not “fertilize an egg”? You can’t fertilize an embryo lmao
This is a stunt bill designed to draw attention to how anti-woman most anti-abortion laws are
10k just be be able to jerk it 3 times? This guy is a loser. I’ll jerk it all day for free. He can’t charge me a fee

Banning masturbation will not stop abortion lol
It’s a stunt to highlight how we only discuss the woman’s role in abortion and how most anti-abortion laws are anti-woman. Was this not clear? Im asking this seriously because so many seem to be missing this here.
It’s clear it’s just stupid
It’s not clear at all, no.
Is this proposal patently ridiculous? Yes. Do I believe there’s at least one legislator in Mississippi who unironically believes in this bill exactly as written, and is playing this completely straight? Considering all that’s happened so far, why not?
Satire doesn’t work when the obvious hyperbolic nonsense is within actual expected behavior of the satirized.
I won’t claim one way or the other that this is or is not satire. I don’t know who this legislator is and I don’t really care. But no, with the whole article you’re pasting everywhere in this thread as my only context clue, I certainly didn’t find enough evidence to be convinced he doesn’t actually believe this.
Try reading the article then as I only posted the really obvious bit
Contraception begins in the hand
Very touching. Touching also begins in the hand
LMAO. are they seroius!!!
Doesn’t look serious, but it is funny!
I love that an actual person wasted their time writing this and bringing it up with their colleagues lol
Read the article and find out.
Based on the article, seems like he just wants to point out it’s bullshit to put the entire onus on women for pregnancy.
Cue the cast of Monty Python singing, ”Every sperm is sacred…"
That’s satirical, right?
Right?
Read the article.

Yes, it’s proposed to show how dumb the “life begins at conception idea” is. Blackmon doesn’t actually want this to pass
☹️
Try reading the article. You might feel differently
I read the article, why would I feel differently?

You read this part and didn’t get it?
I guess not. What am I missing?
It’s a stunt. This isn’t serious. How did you not get that?
I guess Mississippi isn’t the first place I assumed would joke about banning masturbation 5 days into Trump Land.
The roll of a man during the pregnancy is irrelevant. Because a man can’t get pregnant.
Also a man is not in charge of a pregnant woman’s body and therefore cannot make choices for her body.
What this bill will do is allow for men to make medical decisions for women without their consent.
yes, it is intended to highlight how anti-woman mst anti-abortion laws are
Sure, some may say it’s absurd, but masturbation inspector is a good paying, high quality American job that cannot be exported overseas, and not a job I’d trust to AI.
That state senator is a visionary!
Sending my heart out so hard my shoulder hurts.
