But in all seriousness, have any of you guys heard from him?

    No, because I blocked them.

Downvote away if you want. But they had became a nuisance in the comment sections. My feed is extremely peaceful and less toxic ever since I can’t read their replies.

Setting healthy boundaries is always perceived as rude by those unaware of the trespassing, yes. I like the quiet, I prefer the quiet.

I’m not ranting. I just stated something I did, and I am in full right to do. It’s my feed. I don’t have to see or interact with someone I don’t want to. And you lot are not helping. In mental health crisis social networks are a liability, not an asset. You’re a bunch of hypocrites who extracted entertainment from someone’s else struggling then want to claim moral superiority because I was rude. They needed IRL support, not a bunch of randos from the internet prying in their private life for emotional leeching.

You’re free to set your boundaries.

Thus why I did not comment on the main post

Eh, Squid was definitely a bit of a shit stirrer the last couple weeks I saw them post. Pretty sure they caught some bans from a few communities for incivility. Hope everything is going ok for them, but I think taking a break from Lemmy will be a good thing.

Yeah, I was wondering about him, too. I think it’s wild the Lemmy is tight knit enough for stuff like worrying about specific users. Reminds me of the days when forums were the dominant social media of the internet.

When I’m gone people won’t notice, they’ll just wonder why nobody is arguing with the lying tankies anymore.

Hopefully they’re just busy with getting their new life setup.

Last time I asked about the inability to eat solid food was a couple of months ago if memory serves. He said he was doing well after the move to the UK, but the food situation had not changed. Also he was in desperate need of finding a job and was really struggling on that front.

    I hope all is okay.

The last thing I remember seeing from him was a fight with another user, and a slew of deleted comments talking about suicide. I really hope he’s okay

They were hanging around here and posting more in the few weeks following that. I was keeping an eye open for them after seeing that whole… debacle.

Whatever else might have happened I’m pretty confident that that argument, at least, isn’t of concern anymore. I hope.

I have had my own share of publicly threatening suicide over internet arguments, so I guess feel that the urge was already there for him, too. Moving to a different continent is difficult enough without all the other struggles Squid has shared, I just hope someone who knows him irl is checking in on him

I am definitely concerned, I didn’t interact with them directly often but I liked seeing the positive updates about their family’s move.

Hopefully everyone is doing well and just have more important, happy things keeping them occupied.

I’m not a fan of the dude but while lecturing me they did say they were broke and had health issues they couldn’t afford, maybe just hospital stuff in a country with more socialized healthcare?

I’m going to err on the side of optimism and believe he’s just been busy with his new job and moving his wife and kid(s) across the pond.

    Edit: grammar

very different question, but the UK isn’t necessarily more sane than the americans, just less dangerous.

I personally believe that the terfs in the UK are just the way they are because of tea withdrawal or something. Unfortunately all Brits I’ve contacted as part of proving this hypothesis have been uncooperative, due to not wanting to give up their tea for more than 48h.

you haven’t ever actually met anyone from TERF island; tea isn’t that much bigger there than in america.

You’d be surprised. I do indeed know people from there but you are right it’s alcohol that most of them are dependent on not tea. (Though that sample does also drink a lot of tea)
