GOOOOD LET THEM BURN!!! No seriously they voted for this. They only way they will feel it is if they suffer. Am I going to suffer too? Yes I am but at least I know I am not the cause of it.

…duh? Retaliating is the point. What were tariffs like before Trump, and who gave Trump power? Why would you go after anyone else?

Have at it. Pile them on. This is what they wanted!

Economic events that are bad for most people in a state can very easily be opportunities for oligarchs who have the money to invest in the right things. If getting a bigger slice for themselves means a smaller pie overall they’re ok with it.

The whole thing is about money and control while distracting the people with things they want to look at, which is unfortunately hate. It’s a lot easier to get people to hate something as a group than to like that. It’s the path of least resistance for money and control.

texas is probably the biggest example of this and i hope that it galvanizes them into action since my experience living there has taught me that they’re only liberal in name, not practice.

I mean the counter tarrifs we put in place are mostly designed specifically to target red states. Still boycotting as much as I possibly can stuff made in the US though, as well American companies. I’d love a closer bond to the EU

Macron proposed a multi-speed Europe, with countries like Norway, Switzerland and UK being of the lowest ‘speed’. Totally think Canada should apply for that 🇪🇺

I think the Euro would primarily be for countries in the inner circle with exceptions made for microstates like San Marino or Andorra which already use the Euro. I’m not sure if adopting the Euro would provide much benefit to Canada. Membership in the European Economic Area (EEA, basically the single market), or some light version of the single market, might make more sense for Canada.

Well those are fair for sure, I’m just saying that I don’t mind removing the royalty from our currency

I’m going to be honest here, as an American I fully support you in this and hope the best for Canada. Many of us totally understand the resentment and know that our government and republican party asked for this. I hope the boycotts work and I hope they send the clearest message back. At the same time I don’t have much faith I our leadership to react rationally.

I wish I didn’t have to, because it was literally better for everyone. Two of the closest countries in history, at odds in the course of a month. It sucks.
