Spez is only less evil because he doesn’t have enough money to be in the oligarch club. He’s just one of their toadies. He’d absolutely be the same way if anyone actually gave him the power they have.
Reddit has been about soft power for a while now. Ever since they scapegoated Ellen Pao, imo. They’ve been changing things relatively slowly compared to Twitter in terms of enshitification, and being more careful about who they piss off at any given time. They’ve become more emboldened ever since they banned 3rd party apps, as now they are allowing bot farms and bad actors that commented on behalf of the admins.
Reddit could be seeing tons of users leaving the site daily, but they’re for sure replacing them with bots to paint a better picture and drive engagement. The same thing applies to Twitter as well. It’s why on BlueSky for instance, I don’t see ragebait dominating my feed due to the more robust moderation tools compared to Twitter and Reddit.
Lemmy has avoided most bots due to the manual approval processes from what I can see. I think Lemmy should strongly consider implementing BlueSky’s moderation tools though.

When Twitter-man did the salute, I deleted my old account (hadn’t used it in years anyway) When Facebook-man said “no more fact checking,” I deleted my old facebook (only kept it to keep in contact with, like, 2 people) When Tumblr-man banned the porn, I deleted my tumblr (you can guess why I had it) When Reddit-man said he wants to paywall the biggest subs, I deleted my reddit (also got banned but I prefer to say I did it for a better reason)
I’ve seen news that tumblr has changed/is changing, and they’re even implementing some form of activitypub (Fediverse) integration. I don’t have stakes here, just curious: does that change your position any, as an ex-user now on fedi?
I doubt it, unless I find specific content that only exists on that platform if those changes do occur. I have some very specific, LEGAL, interests that are fairly niche and hard to come by, and I have little interest in social media, so I often only create accounts on something if I actively like the content, either nsfw or sfw. Here, for example, I am here for sfw content.

I use Twitter and reddit for porn, nothing else anymore. People/communities I follow are ghost towns elsewhere. Everytime I point this out, people get butthurt, yet none of them link to their porn profile.

It’s hard to find places dedicated to foreskin (the /c is just crickets), cbt, estim… tons more. Even harder to find ones that aren’t just shells for their onlyfans. I’ve been checking every few months for the 🐦 I follow to hop to bluesky or mastodon, and only around a quarter have done so thus far. For reddit, where else can I find a vast array of kink content that is getting fresh stuff daily? Like actually, where? I’ve been searching the internet for a long time, and besides FurAffinity, e621, reddit and occasionally twitter, it’s table scraps for any sort of quality kink content.
E: I should also point out that I’m gay, a bit of interest in androgynous individuals, so most places don’t float my boat

Arguably there is now more censorship on Reddit than on twitter.
The same can also be said about Fiat currency and really supporting anything centralized as we need to balance power with some decentralization to keep it in check, but so few seem to care.

A lot of the niche content I like is still on reddit, however I like the people and experience over here on Lemmy more.
This has been my experience. I still lurk certain communities there but I simply never log in or comment.
I have to use libreddit and other front ends because they have started blocking my vpn last year.
