Let me know how you get on with Postmarket OS. Been about 4 years since I last tried mobile Linux, was barely usable then sadly.
Personally I’ve been meaning to jump ship to Ubuntu Touch (yes, it’s still being developed) which seems to be working relatively well. I still would need to keep a separate throwaway phone for online banking, though, since AFAIK the banking apps struggle running on virtualized android.
Probably, anything out of the ordinary and most banking apps freak out. I use Graphene OS and can’t install my bank’s app. I just use the website. Been thinking about setting up VNC server on an old phone I have with a broken screen and using the client from my Graphene phone to use my banking app and others like Amazon and Just Eat and keep my Graphene device totally clean.
If you decide to do that I recommend taking the battery out first, if the phone can boot without it. Phones have a tendency of mismanaging their batteries to the extent they turn into spicy pillows relatively quickly, if you just leave it plugged in and use it remotely.
My main source for this is an LTT rant from back in the day, but I don’t really have a reason to not believe that based on experience.

Can someone explain pinetime to me? If I buy it, do I have to install SW or is it set up out of the box?
I mostly just want a reliable step counter and maybe a heart rate monitor, but I don’t have time to deal with installing custom SW or whatever
Why would you even want a Smartwatch?
My G-Shock can do the exact same.
You want a heart rate monitor? Buy a Bluetooth one and run Opentracks. You want a pedometer? Your phone does that already.
I like being able to see my phone notifications without having to hold my phone.
East: get one of those things you wear around your neck that holds your phone in front of your face. You can probably 3D print one with a free .stl file!
