The March 14 directive, signed by Attorney General Pam Bondi, uses an obscure 18th-century law — the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 — to give law enforcement nationwide the power to bypass basic constitutional protections.

According to the memo, agents can break into a home if getting a warrant is “impracticable,” and they don’t need a judge’s approval. Instead, immigration officers can sign their own administrative warrants. The bar for action is low — a “reasonable belief” that someone might be part of a Venezuelan gang is enough.

I’ve been thinking for years “at what point is America gonna make a vigilante movement to keep their police in check”… at this point, I suppose they may just not.

My biggest issue is I’m not a fan of ‘collateral’ damage.

If I actually witness something, then I can act.

But just attacking blindly doesn’t really serve any purpose besides stroking ones ego.

I mean, there was that dude in Dallas who shot a bunch of cops during a festival. He ended up barricaded in an office that overlooked the festival. Cops sent in an improvised suicide robot to blow him up.

Or hell, just a few months ago, cops woke up the entire state of Texas at 5 in the fucking morning, via the emergency broadcast system. Why? Because some dude in Amarillo had shot at a cop and was on the run. The cop wasn’t even dead; he had just been grazed. But the dude was on the run, so the cops sent an emergency alert to the entire fucking state. For reference on how insane that is, I got the alert a few minutes after the shooting… And I live like 8 hours away from where it happened. There are people on the gulf coast who are an entire 12 hour drive away, who got woken up because some cop got shot.

All that to say, if you’re going to be a vigilante, it can’t be just one person. The only thing cops hate more than melanin is a cop killer.

This is the crux of the situation. It’s a suicide mission unless we have overwhelming numbers (and really an organized force) on our side. Unless and until that happens, cops are just gonna find the occasional person who feels they have less to lose shooting at them than not.

The irony of them using the alien act, which tarnished Adams’ legacy. If they had any shame they’d be feeling it

I wish the second amendment could actually be used to protect us from tyranny as opposed to being a bunch of hogwash that’s exclusively used to prop up white supremacy.

Last few months?! Blacks, women and LGBT have been the largest gun buying demographic since 2020 or so. Some appeared to have gotten the memo.

While this is true, I still can’t see it as being a viable form of resistance to tyranny in a case like that mentioned in the post. The government won’t accept an appeal to one’s second amendment rights as a valid defense when it’s their own agents committing the offense.

It only works when used against a minority or desperate poor person.

They did this on a Friday hoping to use it through the weekend before the courts challenge it on Monday. This is going to be a terrible weekend for a lot of people.

If you’re a citizen, look out for your neighbors. Be ready to record video if you see ICE in your neighborhood.

This sounds like a quick way to end up dead, enable Fox News to portray ICE as the victim and for ICE to use as an excuse to implement a policy of shooting first and asking questions later

If you wish to pursue this route be sure to look into what the Black Panthers did; namely not pointing guns at law enforcement or violating any laws; merely arriving in numbers with guns

The numbers is important. One person with a gun won’t be able to tell their side of the story if they are killed by an officer

This sounds like you’re making excuses. These people are claiming your basic rights as their playthings.

That’s a line you just don’t cross. Time to update my front door shotgun to a front door AK.

I don’t think you’re far off—I was complaining to my wife that she looked like the folks who have had face transplants, and she informed me she had most likely gotten a bottom facelift done but hadn’t gotten the top done yet. Her taste in black turtlenecks and the android killer face she’s got going really sells the evil empire vibe.
