“We’re not allowed to just straight out ask for a bribe, so you have to figure that out on your own and give us the money under the table.”

    “we want to win”

    Or, alternatively

    “Some fat personal bribes please”

That’s probably the exact reason, they didn’t SAY they wanted bribes on the record, but made a gesture of rubbing their fingers and thumb together and the Japanese delegation ignored or misinterpreted it

South Park has traditionally supported the GOP by either normalizing things or both-sides’ing.

Don’t expect them to suddenly stop now.

I wouldn’t call that support, just not flat out calling it bad. They just tell you like it is, you gotta make the call of what’s right and wrong with what’s going on. I’d say they lean more “liberal” personally, but they rich AF so not in the same game we are playing anyways.

They literally had a decades long arc about climate change being as ridiculous an idea as “manbearpig” That’s not what I’d call left leaning

Yeah, but they apologized for it. Everyone is entitled to their opinion at the end of the day, and it is up to us to determine if it is funny or not, just like whether it is true or not. I don’t see them putting many conservatives in a good light, nor do they do that for supposed liberals. They just show all the grey no one talks about and leave it for the viewer to take away what they will. They had a whole 2 part arc where they mock humans inability to change and instead coopt climate change (manbear pig) to work for them while we waste all our resources frivolously until it is too late. Doesn’t sound like a conservative talking point to me?

South Park lost me with their many, many “both sides” over the years. I have yet to see them properly stab MAGA in the face out of more than temporary shame.

South park becomes extremely vapid once you’re over 28 years old.

You can’t just always pick the middle of two sides of an argument and assume you’re always right.

            So much this.

The problem with the BoTh SiDeS crowd is that they have opted out of thinking and believe that by blaming both sides they’ve found a cheat code that allows them to always be right. Real life is not so simple that there’s a one size fits all solution to everything.

This is actually why RESPECTABLE religious groups have theologists that study the bible and why the Vatican has a pope to say which passages are relevant for the modern day.

(One of the Pope’s last rulings for example was that while the Catholic Church still believes in strict gender roles, it’s not cool with transphobia, citing legitimate medical need for transition)

There are no shortcuts, you must engage with all information you receive.

You can’t just say “Compromise?” in an argument between a fire fighter and an arsonist.

It’s straight up psychological abuse. They want others to try and read their souls (aka guess) so that they can have the upper hand of being able to say it’s not good enough. Or that it has offended them in some way and oh look tariffs just went up again.

i realize my wording is a bit wonky, when i say “we’ll exempt any tariff that goes to it”, I meant the getting resources from elsewhere would be subsidized

also just lower the minimum wage to $2 :^)

And I’m not even kidding about about that; that’s exactly how the Trump administration thinks international relations should be.

          First, I don’t like Google’s terms.

Second, if I try to create an account using a different email address, it usually complains that I don’t have a real phone number, or every phone number I have or can borrow has been used too many times to create a Google account (I’ve never made one, but I’ve lent my number to a graphic designer who needed multiple accounts), or it blocks me at the Recaptcha (“Your computer is sending automated queries”).

For my current main email address, there is already an account created for it, which I did not make. This account was “suspended” as of the moment I first knew about it, with no reason given. Google said it would be automatically deleted if not signed into for several months. For a while, it seemed deleted. A year later, another implicit Google account was created in my name, and suspended immediately.

Each time, I learn about the mystery account because when I try to send email to any Gmail user I get a bounce message from [email protected] stating “The account [email protected] is disabled”. Using Google’s forgot-password system, I get confirmation that the account exists, and is suspended.

It’s kind of a big problem, because tons of people use googlemail.com servers to handle their email, even if the nominal domain isn’t gmail.com. When I opted out of Discord’s change in terms, that bounced with the same error message from [email protected]. Contacting Sparkfun’s tech support to tell them I can’t order from them because of Recaptcha, I also got the same bounce message.
