Zoe Saldana has played several significant roles in science fiction films, including:

Neytiri in Avatar (2009), where she portrayed a warrior and leader in a post-apocalyptic world. Gamora in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, showcasing her as a fierce and complex character2 Nyota Uhura in the Star Trek reboot series, where she plays a powerful and respected character in a male-dominated field2 She has also appeared in Avatar: The Way of Water and Avengers: Endgame, further solidifying her status in the science fiction genre

Just wondering how an actor gets type cast as a ‘science fiction’ person.

I saw this on reddit, commented and got torn apart by Avatar fans. I had no idea they had any! I will say it here, the series no one asked for and most can’t remember it until someone mentions it. That says everything about Avatar.

It’s strange how in some circles, people love to hate on massively popular movies, and things millions of people love and look forward to. So weird.

I wouldn’t say hate, but they are entirely mediocre movies, at least the first one, never bothered to watch the second one, that’s how little I care about it.

They are shiiiiiit, for sure. The only thing is the 3-D. I can’t remember the first one, watched it at home. The second one, I watched in theater and only remember the 3-D.

      Now FernGully, I remember.

I thought this was the good Avatar based on the subtitle and that it was going to be a prequel of sorts chronicling the first wave of attacks by the fire nation. I was hoping this would be the beginning of a series of movies that would be better than the other attempts.

Then I saw the blue person…

Zoe Saldana as Katara couldn’t be any worse than the nepo baby in the M. Night Shyamalan train wreck.

I’m a fan. I’m looking forward to the third movie. I don’t get the hate. You don’t like it, you don’t watch it - you’re obviously not the target group. I don’t go to discussions about films I don’t like just to say I hate them. I also don’t think just because I and my bubble don’t like something that automatically means noone does. I don’t get this approach.

While the story can be a bit bland or even cringy, the movies have a lot of visual appeal. I’m not surprised they do well.
