Summary
Tesla’s sales in Europe collapsed in April, plunging over 50% in several countries despite an overall 23.9% rise in EU EV sales.
Sweden saw an 81% drop, the Netherlands 73.8%, and France 59%.
The refreshed Model Y failed to revive interest as buyers turned to alternatives, citing CEO Elon Musk’s controversies or superior competitors.
Tesla’s Q1 EU market share fell from 2.4% to 1.3%. Including the UK and EFTA, sales dropped 37.3%. Globally, 2024 was Tesla’s worst delivery year in two years, raising doubts about a near-term recovery.

I do my part here in Denmark (which is chock full of Tesla), by giving the middle finger to every Swastikar that passes me by on my commute by bike.
Surely you could manage two middle fingers as long as you’re not in a sharp turn!
I am ashamed to say that, even after 15 years in cycling cities, I have never learnt to bike with hands on the handle.
I think it’s part of my personality: 20 years ago when I still drove a car I was fixed with my hands at 10 to 10 on the wheel and I approach every keyboard with my left hand in the WASD shape.

Tesla is the poster child of companies that feel the wrath of people who oppose fascism. But this needs to happen to all the companies that kowtow to Trump and his regime, and there’s a whole litany of them.
You can use this site to identify businesses that are 100% MAGA. It was made to help MAGA know where to shop, but it can tell rational people where not to shop.
Or simply for the rest of the world, boycott US products.

The SuperCharger network needs to be spun off into its own company. It’s one of the few positive things to come out of the company, especially now that the Tesla NACS plug/socket has become the SAE J3400 open standard and most EV manufacturers have announced support for it. It’s the only international EV fast charging network that can be seen as comparable to similar gas/petrol chains.
Their battery storage division that manufactures PowerWalls, MegaPacks, etc. should also be saved (perhaps spun off as well). Those are good quality home & grid-scale battery solutions.
Their cars, vaporware solar products, robots, etc. all deserve to go the way of the dodo as quickly as possible.
Anything that would see Muskrat profit should be boycotted and discarded.

It is simply impossible for me to view the Tesla icon without it morphing into a swastika. Even if Elon and every board member is removed and all of their shares taken with no payout I would still never buy from them. The brand is irreversibly damaged.

Hypothetically another major recall could cause more cars to be returned than sold.
What baffles me is that conservatives usually don’t believe in global warming and don’t care about the environment so they are less likely to purchase an EV. So why is Musk courting them? Presumably he did a lot of damage to the brand. And it doesn’t help either that the Cyberpunk is one giant flop, similar to Fiat Multipla.
I’ve gotten Multiplas as rentals on a couple occasions. They’re ugly as sin, but are actually kind of practical, don’t have the same crap quality as a Tesla, and cost a lot less.
Fair point, I was mostly talking about the looks. What makes matters worse is that the Cyberpunk is also very dangerous on the road both for pedestrians and also other cars. I am so glad that this monstrosity isn’t allowed in Europe.

I think that was his strategy too, but he went way overboard – full nazi even. I think he also took too many drugs and lost control.

Musk was courting democrats until he fell out with them over labour rights. I think his “republican phase” started due to pushing for less workers rights in the US, so that he can make cheaper cars.
That was obviously a long time ago, before X and DOGE, he’s clearly in a delusional hate bubble at this point and expecting rationally explainable actions is unfortunately too big an ask.
On other words, he’ll buy off whoever he thinks will give him what he wants.
