Playing Atari2600 on a device the size of my phone isn’t like the old days. But them again I dont have Coke in a glass bottle, good music on the radio or a drive-in movie either.

I do get a kick out of showing my 6 year old the video games from when I was a kid. That look on her face when she is baffled we even call these video games 😆

Sounds like you need to get a Mexican Coke, enjoy it while you go for a drive to your nearest drive-in. If it’s a distance that’ll give you time to channel surf. They all still exist!

The dream is a handheld that can output 240p. Preferably with the ability to easily output it via HDMI so I can use an HDMI to Component adapter instead of Composite like most handhelds that do have support for TV Out do.

The Retroid Pocket 2+ does 480p output, and that’s the closest I’ve ever seen. It does work pretty well on a CRT with the HDMI to component adapter.

I had a CRT for a while, I have a bunch of systmes i’ve been collecting since I was a kid. Atari 2600, NES, SNES, N64, GC, Wii, Xbox… but I got rid of the CRT because honeslty its way more of a pain to go to the basement, find the game i want and play. Sure its way more authentic but I can just grab my Retroid Pocket 2+ and play all those games and thousands more in seconds.

RP2+ is awesome lol, it can play even some PS2 and 3ds games. If you go the legit path you can afford maybe one game.

I’d love to be able to afford that kind of setup, but these days somehow it’s more affordable to get a handheld than going through the trouble buying the real deal lmao. Getting just a handheld alone would be cheaper than going through the trouble getting a retro setup going. People are asking for way too much for these games that half the time aren’t even working. Also I wouldn’t want to deal with the potential safety hazard if the CRT breaks,.
