Oprah knew Weinstein. They might have been friends. She may or may not have believed the rumors but if I was hearing them as a guy in a liquor store in Boston in the early 00s there’s no way in hell Oprah hadn’t heard them.

Oprah was a frequent flyer to Epstein Island and was friends with Weinstein. She also promoted John of God, a faith healer, on her show, and he was later prosecuted for sexual assault and rape. She pulled out of producing a documentary on Russel Simmons when it started investigating the allegations against him.
She also platformed Drs Oz and Phil, neither of which has been accused of sexual crimes (that I’m aware of), but I mention them because they are shitty scam artists.

I feel like he went pretty easy on her - lots of sympathy for her upbringing, criticism for her schools but not for shitty stuff like this.
There’s a theory, and I think it fits far too well to not be the actual plot, that Mulholland Drives story is about an actress that was forced to use the casting couch (which seems to be what Oprah and Rita are sitting on) in order to get roles.
Im not going to try to remember all the points, cuz my memory sucks, but it’s basically her regret and shame of using the couch method, and then watching other younger stars get better roles, who probably did the same thing.
