First xmanager went away and I was devastated
Now revanced Spotify doesn’t seem to work and I feel defeated.
I feel the cat and mouse game with spotify has caught up and I should just ditch Spotify altogether. Do you guys have any solutions?

I didn’t had luck with Revanced neither, however Grayjay works well for me, so I use it. It has it own cons tho
For the revanced, I just keep going through the steps each time it doesn’t work. Uninstall revanced app, download main app, split into apk, re-patch, reinstall. I’ve had to do it about 3 times in the past month, but it always gets it back running again.
Even spotube stopped working since the dev received a cease and desist, you have to go back to the old hacked app.
For desktop I’ve been getting playlists I like from the web Spotify UI, then using spotdl to download them.
On mobile I’ve been trying out Kreate (YouTube Music frontend) and so far it’s not bad. It doesn’t have a real algorithm but I tend to browse by genre until I land on a playlist, or go to a song I feel like and hit Song Radio. UI is still a bit clunky in my opinion but it has worked so far for me otherwise.
Didn’t spotdl cease to work a long time ago? Maybe I’m confusing it, I used to use some AUR package which I thought was called that, then the API thing happened and it ceased to function so I gave up on it.
I use arch BTW.
spotx still works fine, if you want to use that in migration
I just ditched spotify completely in favour of a jellyfin private server that works like spotify for me. If I want to get recommendations, listenbrainz gives me a weekly list based on what i listen.
I used a program called spotdl to download all the music in my playlists and then ditched the whole thing.
I was using xmanager for a long time, then I moved on from Spotify altogether. I think it depends on how you use Spotify. I was really trying to hold onto streaming music because I didn’t want to loose my playlists, but when I looked at my Wrapped every year, I was listening to the same artists and songs alot of the time.
For me it made more sense to buy the music I loved, rather than pay a monthly fee to listen to the same tracks. Now I have a great currated music collection on my phone that I control. If you decide to buy music, 7digital and Bandcamp are great.
Recently switched to using slskd (sharing) + Picard (organizing) + Navidrome (streaming) + Amperfy (client) for my music needs. It’s obviously more cumbersome than Spotify, but it’s mine, in my control, and has all the content I want.
Have you tried Spotube?
Not sure what Revanced changes/add/subtracts, but Spotify is basically Spotify without ads and you can pick different sources (ex. YouTube) for the music.

That’s unfortunate.
Do you know when that is supposed to happen (currently works for me)?

I hope spotdl still lives on, I’ll probably start downloading before it’s all gone
It’s never been so easy to download music. Soulseek, yt-dlp, torrents for older stuff, spotify downloader websites etc. I still have spotify but I started growing my local music collection a few years ago. Considering canceling my spotify subscription.
Is there any guide on how Soulseek works? I don’t really understand how to use it and how it works
Can yt-dlp download lossless formats or is it just mp3?
Soulseek is a simple peer-to-peer sharing network. You can share directories and see other users shared directories when they are online. It can be a bit flaky but is a useful tool.
yt-dlp downloads from youtube will be in youtube quality, so ~128kbps VBR opus most of the time. Sometimes ~256kbps VBR if you have Premium. I still find it handy for hard to find recordings and new albums etc that have not been shared in flac yet.
It’s more like the old school file sharing networks of like napster and emule. You give it a directory to share and it makes files in those directories available to download on the network and you can download what other people are sharing.
Soulseek will IP block you for leeching, always keep it on
To download spitify, zotify maybe work.
Have you patched the latest version? Mine stopped working within the last week. Just downloaded the new version and patched it. Has been working fine since.
Using lidarr with the arr-extended scripts, soularr and slskd is the way. Add the music to your jellyfin server, stream with symfonium.
What are these scripts you mentioned? I’m running practically the same setup otherwise:
- Searching: Lidarr, Soularr, slskd
- Navidrome for a backend, Feishin on desktop, Symfonium mobile
- Beets for metadata management
If I’m using lidarr with Windows can this still be done or is this a Linux only thing? I checked out the website for soularr and it looks like it’s Linux or docker only.
I’ll give this a try. Thanks
