There is also an episode of Hannibal where a killer is burying people alive and growing mushrooms out of them. They consult a doctor called Stamets in that episode. It seems to be a running gag to name any mushroom related person in a show after the real life mushroom dude.

Blew my mind a little bit when I discovered this fact. Really nice little touch from the writers. The IRL Stamets is an incredibly interesting guy.
