It appears filtered communities are not filtered when viewing/browsing an instance.

I haven’t been able to find a way of viewing where filters work at all. Are they broken, or do they only work in specific circumstances?
When I’m browsing “everything”, and see a post I want to filter out I click the three dots, then at the bottom of the popup there’s a filter tab. From there you can filter out from seeing posts from that person or from that community.
It does work on anything but “everything” as far as I can tell, however. If I’m looking at an instance, filtering communities does nothing.

Is there currently a way to unhide an individual post once I’ve clicked “hide”? I want “keep posts hidden” on, but if I hide a post by accident I want to be able to unhide it.
If you switch between accounts it will unhide. Planning to add an extra section here.

Why not? How can Sync tell if an image is NSFW?
This was added in response to last weeks incident. Once additional tools are in place on instances I’ll look to remove this.
Sync uses a local ML model to attempt to classify nsfw content.

Not a huge deal to me, I don’t plan on uploading any NSFW content and my instance has disabled all image uploading (for now) anyway. Really, I’m just curious.
Yup. As I said once additional tools are in place on instances to deal with this issue I’ll look to remove the check in app 👍🏻

Because Google is a diarrhea-soaked abomination of a company that will accuse you of personally trafficking child porn if people have the ability to abuse your app for unintended purposes. This is probably coming because lemmyworld’s shitposting board was closed after people spammed it with CP, and LJ is trying to get ahead of Google so they don’t de-list his app. Unfortunately for him, Google reviewers don’t (can’t) read, and will delist his app for a few days anyway. Calling it now.

Wow, I love this. I’ve generally relied on looking at stuff that hits the main feed to find content but this has opened up so much extra content that I didn’t know existed. Great feature!
Random is also pretty good for discovering new content too
Where do I find Random? Normally I just look at Everything or explore my local instance.
go to More Actions by either clicking the FAB (floating action button in the bottom-right corner of your screen) or […] in the top-right corner. You should see an overlay menu with extra actions, within them you’ll see Random and Random NSFW.

My filters aren’t being applied across any of my installed accounts. Suggestions for troubleshooting unapplied filters?
Can you screenshot the filters you have set in the settings pages please?
I can’t as it’s most prominent on my nsfw alt account where I’m filtering out weird porn.

Correct, it doesn’t seem like any community filters are applying, new or old.

Those are set correctly so I’m trying to work out what you’re expecting and what’s not happening.
Also it’s happening for me on all installed accounts.
I’m using a lemmy world account and browsing local on lemmy world. I have /c/apple filtered, but I still see a post from it in my local feed. There are other communities that I have filtered that are showing up in my local feed as well.
