These threads used to be really useful back on Reddit.
I’m currently finishing off full app translations for the next release along with lots of the usual bug fixes.
What should I prioritise next?
Cheers, Lj
Any progress on WebM support? Not sure about other instances, but mine converts GIFs to WebM by default when I upload from Sync. But posts with WebM just act like still images in Sync, and tapping on them just leads to a button to open the WebM in a browser.
Is it possible to add an option to remove the notification bar at the top of the screen when scrolling? Basically full screen when scrolling.
There used to be a Reddit app that supported this but I forget which.
Oh boy. Thanks for that. I searched settings for ‘notification’ and of course found nothing related.
Is that known as the status bar then and I’ve been calling it the wrong thing all this time?
Hahaha - I have no idea, honestly. It seemed like the same thing to me, so maybe both?
I have a habit of going through all of the settings (to see what I like), and happened to notice that thing specifically. But, I try to help out whenever that sort of thing happens, though!
Emoji support would be :chefs-kiss:
Not sure if I’m doing something wrong, have an incorrect setting, or if this is expected behavior, but the thing that’s been driving me nuts is when I go to share a link it always copies the source of the post for the lemmy link.
If, for example, I’m browsing on lemmy.ml and I want to share a post from lemmy.world, I’d like to be able to copy the lemmy.ml version of the lemmy.world post.
It doesn’t make as much sense with public instances, but when you’re using a private instance and you want to share with friends and family it can be kind of a hassle to retrieve the URL for said private instance.
2 old features I liked from the reddit version. Probably going to be quite low priority versus some other things, but they’re the missing things I’m noticing most.
-
The little “next / previous comment” arrows. Worked very well for skipping comment chains when you’re already a bit into them.
-
The little “+#” count next to the total comments to show how many new comments have popped up in a post. Combined with the unread comment dot it made keeping track of new comments on a thread I liked nice.

filters with a timeout (filters that disappear after a while). The filter might remain in a list of filters and can be reset again (or gets deleted after timeout). This would be a middle ground between blocking certain things completely and not at all.

weighing of certain communities. A weight of 0 would be the same as blocking. A weight of 1 doesn’t change anything. A Weight of 0.5 would multiply the upvotes of posts by 0.5 in order to change its position on the frontpage. ( I am not sure how exactly the rank is determined, but weighing certain meme-communities lower would be nicer than completely blocking them - i like a nice stupid meme from time to time. am not sure how this could work on reality, son this might not have a perfect solution though.
i think posts are ranked server side.
there is a new type of sorting that takes into account the size of the community. the PR was merged but idk when it will be implemented in the clients.

I’d like to get a quick option to block a community right alongside the filter options (filter user, filter site, filter community).
yes this would be good, it would avoid being obligated to open a community to block them.
A setting to hide posts that I have voted on. I miss this from Reddit.
Would like an “overview” when going on mine or someone else’s profile so posts and comments are mixed. Saves me clicking through each and giving better context.
A feature I would love to have is Auto load next page if a full page of results is filtered. With some communities getting fed content by posting bots that load a chunk of posts all at once, I often hit instances while browsing /all where multiple pages will be empty due to filters. It would be great if the app just loaded the next page automatically in these instances instead of having to manually load the next page.
I know it’s a little one but please fix the spacing of the notification when hiding posts:
Device information
Sync version: v23.09.13-18:19 Sync flavor: googlePlay Ultra user: true View type: Slides Push enabled: false
I noticed that saved items are ordered by their post date, not by their saved date like on Reddit Sync. This makes it super hard to find the latest ones you saved.
Could you add this please?
Was going to say the same thing!
Client-site “multicommunities” would be nice. A way for me to group multiple communities into a single feed like multireddits.
Oh this, like God mode 😜
Even better if this could be a lemmy feature I think, but client-side would be good too
It’s a small QOL suggestion, a “Previous” and “Next” comment button when traversing through comments. I used to use RIF prior to coming to Lemmy Sync and always liked being able to jump from comment to comment.
Bottom navigation styleThis navigation element inside the posts has that(but if you don’t use the Bottom Nav… I have no idea) I think it would be good to add it to any view.(Hah, I used the wrong words. Sorry about that!)
I’m dumb! I completely didn’t notice. I appreciate the clarification!
FWIW - it’s not the Bottom Nav that does it. I was wrong about the names of the elements involved. I think it’s just a typical post/comment browser element that lets you do that, and the Bottom Nav is for the feeds.
My bad! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Either way, you can long-press any of the 3 spots - instead of “next comment up” it’s “aaaallll the way up”, same for the down a comment/all the way down, and the middle icon lets you change the comment sort type.
Is there a way to create a community? I don’t think I’ve seen a way but I haven’t done a thorough deep dive
