I personally have been using lineage os for some time now and I am curious how many others use F-droid and lineage os like I do
I used LineageOS for years on my OnePlus 3, and once that stopped getting updates, I snagged a Pixel 5a and immediately put CalyxOS on it. Both have been great experiences.
I personally like lineage os because it is clean and minimal. Calyx os comes with way to many apps preinstalled
During setup, Calyx shows a list of the apps installed by default, and allows you to uncheck most of them. I personally didn’t feel like it was much bloat at all, but I did uncheck a good bit of the apps. If you went through the setup process with all default settings though, I can definitely see why you’d think that
I broke a data pin on my current phone so it only has the stock ROM with F-Droid.
My new phone is a Xiaomi that I don’t use enough for Xiaomi to allow me to unlock the bootloader, so also stock ROM with F-Droid for that one until I actually start using it. Once I get the bootloader unlocked, I’ll put Graphene OS on it.
Have you tried the bootloader without OEM unlocking enabled? It works on some devices.
what?
I fixed my previous comment.
Basicly you may be able to reboot into fastboot and unlock the bootloader without changing any settings in the os. It really just depends on the device.
You mean the way to unlock a Google Pixel, but without enabling OEM unlocking?
Kind of. It varies by brand and device and I have no experience with your device. If you want lineage os its worth a shot
Where did you learn about this? Diid it work for you? If yes, what device are you using?
I couldn’t get it to work but it turned out it was a defective device. It was a Motorola g52
“Downgrading” from a Samsung S22 Ultra 128gb to Pixel 7a, planning to run Graphene on it.
+1 for Graphene. I’m running it on a Pixel 4a 5g and have had no issues to date. All my banking apps work, although some with the gaps compatibility layer in a different profile.
I do and did this with all my previous phones. Unfortunately, it comes with so many obstacles nowadays like non-working banking apps, that I’m unsure how the future of custom roms looks like. If I need to buy a new phone, I’ll pick one with good custom rom support and a cheap second one just for the banking stuff.
I don’t understand why running a proprietary banking app is a deal breaker. It will never work and should never work for security reasons. The bank wants you device to be controlled and locked down by google so that you don’t get robbed if you lose your device. Putting your finances on a device with weak encryption and no locked bootloader is a bad plan as far as I’m concerned.
I know many people like continence but for me freedom is more important.
Been using lineageos on my phone and tablet for a few years now. I have not downloaded a google play store app since I switched to lineageos.
Using Lineage on my PX 5 and couldnt be happier
Graphene OS on my pixel 6. All my banking apps work. I have Droidify (f-droid), the aurora store, and the play store installed.
Some apps on the play store say they don’t support my phone, but I can install them from the aurora store if I have it report my actual phone model.
How does this effect battery life? I listen to audiobooks 12-14 hrs a day, with 9 hours of use with Bluetooth. I’m looking to get away from Audible in hopes of that helping as well.
Better than stock
It tends to improve it due to no google things phoning home
I started with CyanogenMod on my Google G1 and have never stopped.
I chose a new phone based on its LineageOS support. I only booted the original OS once before installing LOS. Been running smoothly for 5 years now.
i’ve been using custom ROMs for a long time. In the last years i also replaced GApps with MicroG Currently i’m using LineageOS for MicroG
I’ve been doing this since the WinMo days. I recently went back to stock for my banking app with the latest 13 ROM, but I still have a 2016 Samsung tab a running great on the latest lineage, it saves so many older devices.
YAAP on the OnePlus 7T Pro made me rethink if I want to upgrade my phone at all
On Lineage Microg
LineageOS MicroG on Fairphone 4.
How does lineageos work for you on FP4? I’m thinking of installing it too.
Everything works as expected.
Running GrapheneOS and it is very stable and reliable.
