He would be so assassinated, so quickly. The IRS does not fuck around. Neither does the Department of Education.

IRS. From the party of law and order.

And with the others, if there was any doubt it should now be crystal clear this is the party of burn it all down.

It hasn’t been the party of law and order for decades at this point.

Nixon showed the cracks, Reagan opened the floodgates, and the Twice-Impeached One showed how far they can push people.

You can’t get enough out of banks these days to justify the risk. What you want to do is rob jewelery stores.

Well, it’s a start. No money for federal judiciary, federal House, federal Senate, and eventually federal Presidency. And federal law enforcement, and federal military. News from the Florida Man

I mean that’s been their goal for decades. You see it plainly in their attempts on the Post Office and Social Security. They want to privatize everything. Strip the government for parts and sell it all to private corporations. No Department of Energy? Guess we’ll have to just let the power companies manage our grid with no oversight. No Department of Education? Guess your only options for education are for profit private schools if you can afford to attend them. No IRS to collect those pesky and complicated income taxes? Guess we’ll have to switch to collecting everything via sales tax. Oh what’s that? Not enough money? Good thing we have this Social Security trust fund that’s just been sitting here not being used for Wall St speculationcollecting dust.

Reaganomics was a horrendous failure for this country, and nearly 50 years later here we are with Republicans pushing those policies again on the American people.

What DeSatan is talking about is a continuation of Reagan’s terrible “Starve the Beast” policies.

Starve the Beast is a plan by conservatives to reduce funding for various government departments and programs to a level below which those entities can function properly. Salaries and equipment cost money. Below a certain level, you can’t do your job properly. And that’s what Republicans have been pushing for a few decades now. Cut funding for programs, and then claim those same programs aren’t doing their job properly, and use that as the excuse to kill off those programs altogether.

It is a self fulfilling prophecy all so big business and the ultra rich can pollute more, hide their real wealth from taxes, and make our children dumb enough that future generations willingly vote Republican.

This is the problem with a party whose entire political platform is to prove that government doesn’t work. It wants dysfunction.

I don’t care but thanks for the heads-up.

    Thu 29 Jun 2023

Ron DeSantis pledged on Wednesday that he would eliminate four federal agencies if he were elected president: the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), the Department of Commerce, Department of Energy, and Department of Education.

"If Congress will work with me on doing that, we’ll be able to reduce the size and scope of government,” the Florida governor said in an interview with Fox News’ Martha MacCallum. “If Congress won’t go that far, I’m going to use those agencies to push back against woke ideology and against the leftism that we see creeping into all institutions of American life.”

Ok, so none of this is going to happen.

So his job is to look so bad that trump seems reasonable?

But if it gets support, also yay?

Russia/China are clearly playing the games the UK and the USA have around the world back on them.

It’s more that he wants to destroy the regulatory systems that prevent companies from doing anything they want. This is a big step for fascism. Hitler and Mussolini both deregulated the markets and privatized everything they could. Fascism is simply Capitalism run rampant. After that they usually invade another country and create a slave labor force, which is why he wants to “go to war with the cartels.”

It’s so weird seeing the IRS as one of the more prominent victims of partisan polarization, especially with a ridiculous enough promise even we libertarian-minded folk tend to react along the lines of “whoah that’s pretty crazy to jump to, the budget is a system that needs adjusted with care even if - especially if - that’s your goal”. It’s as if he’s trying to cater specifically to really dumb business owners.

I fail to see how rah rah DoE/DoC even makes sense as a campaign promise.

Oh yes, instead of the IRS we get private companies who knock on our doors and harass us, who will take a far larger cut than before for the sake of privatization. Taxes gotta be collected and sorry its pointless to be angry at the IRS when they are just following the laws that congress have established.

We’d get the auto generated results we’ve been asking for. But the entire back end process would be a black box so there’s no way to know if they’re telling you the truth. And they’d figure out a way to make it a tier subscriber system too.

And they’d send you to a for-profit collection agency to charge you huge amounts of interest on any debt they decide you have, which you can’t contest except by going through arbitration. And the corporate side always comes out on top in arbitration.

Oh no, they can’t leverage bench warrants for subpoenas they never delivered if they go with Arbitration. In court they get the cops to haul you in after you lost because you didn’t know you had a court date, and the judge just orders you to pay a monthly amount that bears little resemblance to your finances. That’s because they do them in batches and there’s about a minute to argue your case against the Judge’s golf buddy. Then when you can’t pay you keep getting sent to jail.

It’s already just a matter of time until we bring debtor’s prison back officially and force people to “work off their debt”. Which will, of course, be impossible to achieve.
