In terms of having the “marrying cousins” stereotype.
Mexico: Nuevo León (specifically Monterrey)

In the Netherlands, its gotta be Urk.

Definitely Urk. Or Staphorst.
Those aren’t provinces.
I know they’re not but I’ve made my choice.
Or Volendam.
Here in México is Nuevo León for sure,
I know nothing about Mexican culture. That being said, why that state? Is it poor or very rural?
In Costa Rica its a subdivision of a province, San Carlos. Very famous for incest (not being taboo). In the costa rican subreddit there was a long thread about it not too long ago. The thread mostly contained anecdotal but has interesting comments; a doctor that sees lots of teenage pregnancy cases, a story of a priest that refused to continue marrying cousins in a small town.
“Dan denk ik aan Brabant.”
It’s either the Free State or Limpopo. Though if I had to pick one it would be Limpopo, it’s the only province where the majority of white people voted to keep and continue apartheid during the referendum in 1992. While I’ve never been to the US, that sounds like it would fit the Alabama stereotype. Though jokes about dating cousins is usually aimed at people from Brakpan and Danville, but those are specific towns which have their own character.
Limpopo is definitely more backward. But Free State does have that small town redneck vibe going for it in many places. Also dont talk shit about my Brakpan. It gets that reputation because Springs people holiday there
Probably Saskatchewan.
It’s not Alberta, right guys? Right?
I meaaaannnn…
Only because Alberta is the Texas equivalent
I mean, you could argue that Alberta is more comparable to Texas
I’ll take it.
Iranian here.
All of them.

It used to be very common in Tamil Nadu for an uncle to marry his niece. So common that the word for uncle (mama) can be used interchangeably with groom
it still happens (at least in rural places)
I see sooooo many articles about women being raped and killed in Uttar Pradesh. What’s up with that area specifically?

Ask anyone in the UK and they’ll tell you the next county over from them
Yep. Norfolk, full of em.
I’m from Somerset which would be a classic answer but Norfolk is still considered the one county that saves us from being the goto joke inbreds.
It’s a load of bs anyway… I’m barely related to my wife at all!
Don’t discount Lincolnshire, a large county with a small population.
Tasmania for Australia. At least they are on their own island.
Tasmania, reputedly home of the diamond-shaped family tree
From one of the songs in the video game Redneck Rampage, “My family tree’s a STUMP.”
Lived in AL for many years. Never met a single person married to their cousin, never heard anyone mention cousins getting married. Stupid stereotype.
And yet, so accurate.
Common law married still counts. You aren’t getting off on a technicality this time.
Anecdote =/= data
Alberta, and definitely traces of it in the Maritimes
There’s a whole lotta cousins that I ain’t met yet So you can imagine the shock I get There’s one of them I think I mighta dated back in school But that’s alright, in Alberta that’s cool
