I live in #Tokyo #Japan where I ride my #bicycle nearly everywhere I go. For longer trips, there is excellent #PublicTransportation I hate #cars #FuckCars they are a waste of space. They cause too much #pollution and #asphalt or concrete #roads and #ParkingLots are driving up temperatures. I hate risking my life when I have to ride on the street. I am into #Beekeeping #NaturePhotography #NatureVideos and I have a #PeerTube channel.

Only because there were no airports. There were seaports. Trains, trolleys and horse drawn carriages went to the seaports.

Yes, how horrible it was without cars. People were able to go where they wanted without paying $50K plus insurance, gas and registration and they didn’t have traffic jams. How did they survive?
@sin_free_for_00_days Horse shit is better than car exhaust. No one is dying from cancer, asthma or bronchitis from horse shit. The reason there are no trains or trams near you in the USA is because the automakers and oil companies bought them and shut them down, not because cars are better. How many cars do you see on the road with all the seats full? Cars are too big and too heavy. They go too fast. They need to be smaller and slower. A golf cart is big enough. 30kph is fast enough.

People did all of those things before cars existed. #CarBrain #MotoNormativity #FuckCars

Not extremist at all. People have a right to walk or ride a bicycle without permission from the state. Walking or riding a bicycle poses little or no danger to others. Cars are known to be a deadly dangerous product and their use is not a right; it’s a revocable privilege. A driver is intentionally using a dangerous product in public and if someone who is not using the same dangerous product is injured, the driver is 100% responsible. #FuckCars
@null_dot
{Also a train might contain several hundred passengers while a tram might have a few dozen at most.}
True but what about the next one and the one after that etc etc? This driver didn’t just block the tram they blocked the line. Intent is proven by the obvious tracks that are being blocked by the car that the driver would have to have driven over to get to the parking space.
@mac Get found to be intentionally delaying a train in Japan and they bill you a huge amount of money. Not just for the train you delayed, it’s also all the trains on the line behind it that also get delayed. 1000 Euros a minute seem reasonable considering the lost money for the tram company and the lost time of thousands of riders. Plus reduced reputation for the reliability and punctuality of the service causes incalculable loss to the train / tram company.
@conditional_soup @shadowtofu
Would that mean that since the tram has the right of way on the tracks it can simply push the offending driver’s property off the tracks and any damage is legally the fault of the idiot driver?
@rabber @shadowtofu
Tram company makes money by moving people. When the tram line stops moving, they lose money by the minute. 1000 Euros per minute plus the standard fee for a parking ticket seems fair. That should make the driver pay attention in the future.
@noxypaws Electric motors get warm, yes. They don’t have a fire inside of them. There is a big difference in how much of a cooling system they need.
@jenesaisquoi
I didn’t mention anyone, I just hit reply.
@match I think having a big battering ram in front of you probably makes you worry less about your own safety. If the driver were in a glass bubble in front, they may suddenly feel like taking fewer risks while driving. The safety of others is an externalized afterthought with the current design.
@lgsp
I see now. It looks different on lemmy and feddit than it does here on mastodon.
@lgsp
I liked it but it would have been better to post a link directly to the video.

Here in Japan, every convenience store, supermarket and retail store has bicycle parking. Nearly all apartment buildings, which they call mansions, also have bicycle parking.
