Tbf, Hillary already had all kinds of baggage, and the republicans had spent the better part of two decades spinning up shit about her. Pelosi running would be a better equivalent to Hillary, imo. It was a huge, huge risk basically for no benefit besides for the Clinton’s own vanity/glory.
