As in: KKK took that symbol and forever changed everyone’s association with it to their own org. It’s not appropriation to use a thing, it’s appropriation to treat your use of the thing as the correct/real one.
So it’s not just regular appropriation, it’s the bad kind of appropriation. Because they’re bad.
